How many times do you hear of a coach moving down in competition voluntarily? How can Cincinnati outpay Tech?

I think it is funny that he'd rather go to a program in a crumbling conference with an uncertain future in football rather than coach in Lubbock.

Don't know but I'm sure Cincy has some alums with bucks...
And, I do think Tubby wanted out of the meat grinder, since
recruiting against aTm now will be even harder, never mind
Texas and TCU...hell, even Baylor and their point a minute
offense...

It was apparent that he was neither a good fit in Lubbock nor in the 7 on 7 style of the Big XII

Really makes you wonder how much hatred there must be for Craig James down in Lubbock.

After careful consideration, recent history would indicate that the Sand Aggy coaching job really sucks.

This has got to have something to do with it. I don't imagine Cincy is like paradise, but at least there are trees and water. And days when the wind is not trying to drive your outta your skull.

The last two seasons may have shown him he can't compete there.

I shant miss him either way.

But I thought Texas Tech would have been a better job than Cincinnati... with the exception of getting whupped every year because of the conference and Cincinnati sits better in their position in their league.

I checked their rivals board and they seem to be PO'd at the ad more than anyone else.
With the last two coaching fiascos and this being recruiting season they could really be set back for a long time.
We Sooners should be thankful for our current admin and ad.
It would suck big time to be a Red Raider (more than it usually does anyway).

Obviously he thinks someone in Cincy needs a good sideline slap up-side the head. He's headed there to deliver it.

12/8/2012, 03:29 PM
I mean one he can't win at Tech... and two Cincy won't be in the Big East much longer. Isn't it going to that super conference soon? I don't blame Tubbs for leaving. I'd leave too. There are too many strong teams in the Big XII.

man, i'm not sure how this makes any sense unless Tech wanted him out

the last couple of Cinci coaches landed pretty good jobs elsewhere though...

Texas Tech will likely slide into mediocrity especially with Baylor and TCU on the rise, and sleeping giants in Austin and College Station. At least I hope so, I can't stand that fanbase.

A bad year to be a tech fan, with the bball coach having to leave, the undefeated, ranked football season turning to crap after ou beat em, being reminded daily through primaries of how much you hated what craig james to leach during cj's vanity senate run, and now this.

Maybe its time to vote tech off the big 12 island.

Here's hoping the Raiders take a good long look at Texas A&M's offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury, who played QB at Texas Tech. Good time to bring in a new head coach.

That West Tex good old boy network is hard to crack - the legacy of Gerald and those that came before him will be a stone around any outsiders neck.

As an Okie that got transplanted to the high plains and permian basin, there are a few redeeming qualities from that region. Back in the day, many good times were had in the Hub City.

Most of the Tech alums that I know would, of course all the administration and regent/boosters would have to be gone for that to even have a chance of happening.

Here's hoping the Raiders take a good long look at Texas A&M's offensive coordinator, Kliff Kingsbury, who played QB at Texas Tech. Good time to bring in a new head coach.
Existing Tech OC Neal Brown (played under Leach at Kentucky) probably has a better chance at this point having been around the current administration there.

Fun to make fun of sand aggies but I don't think this is about going to a better program. I think Tubberville sees the writing on the wall at Tech. I think his time there was going to be short lived.

Yes. Most of y'all are assuming it is his decision to leave. Talking to some tech alums last night at a party and they assumed he heard footsteps so he got gone while the getting was good.

Ruffin McNeill, he is an ECU alum and I doubt that he would leave there to go back to Lubbock. He evidently didn't think he was treated too well during the period when he was the interim head coach and won the Alamo Bowl before "not being retained" by Tuberville.

OU_Sooners75
12/9/2012, 09:09 PM
Well, it may be funny to some, but quite a few of those involved with the Tech program (boosters and fans mainly) haven't really like Tubberville.

The Tech community hasn't ever really made him feel welcome in Lowbutt.

I would feel very nervous if I was being made to feel welcome in Lubbutt.
