540,000 dropped out of the labor force last month but because they don't claim unemployment they are nor longer figured into the unemployment figures so of course the unemployment rate went down....again. Yea!

Remember as more and more people drop out of the labor force the tax base shrinks as does the consumer base.

once again, meh. it's a mixed report, not "good news." There's jobs added, there's people leaving the workforce, there's a natural disaster.

Continued slow job growth and consumer confidence made a marked turn downward.

It'll be interesting to get a read on Christmas sales. I hope you didn't waste your time waiting in line on Black Friday because I'm guessing the best deals are yet to come.

Where did you see that?

It is currently at 7.7% but will most likely be adjusted upwards.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/159104/unadjusted-unemployment-shoots-back.aspx

Gallups seasonal adjusted, 8.3%

Unadjusted is back up to 7.8%, pretty large jump. About as large a jump as the decrease was in October.

And no one has called me on it, probably because it's so old, but the church lady said "Isn't that special" not "how convenient".

Fits either way.

Here's a party bonus. 73% of the jobs created in the last 5 months were government jobs. Yippee.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/73-new-jobs-created-last-5-months-are-government

So we are growing the government well. So we have that going for us.

Tell that to the media that covers the markets althought I suspect at this point the only important factor in the equity market's direction is how much Qualitative Easing the Fed is or will be engaging in.

I'll be interested in the February report on January's numbers.
