According to @soonersportscom on the twitter, we are to stay tuned for a BIG announcement this afternoon. Any thoughts/speculation as to what it could be?

Here is the tweet.

New fundraising campaign where the school takes out a life insurance policy on you and hopes you die soon?

Hmmm... my guesses...

- Expansion of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (don't you DARE call it Gaylord anything!)
- A new athletic facility/venue of some type (perhaps an indoor hospitality area outside the football stadium where people can congregate, spend money on concessions and warm up/cool down when the weather sucks?
- A renovation or improvement project (perhaps Lloyd Noble will not have bright red/orange plastic chairs anymore?)
- New uniforms, or a new uniform supplier (please don't let them be gray... please don't let them be gray...)
- Something that makes it easier to attend games (more parking, a shuttle service to less rural traffic areas than Lindsey Street, ticket options?)

And now... some joke ideas:
- Boo Blake returning the recruiting files
- Statues of every football All-American
- Meet the Sooners day will only be open to Sooner Babies Club members. Anyone over 18 months of age will not be allowed to receive player and coach autographs.
- Deciding to finally claim every national title that we can like other schools... WE ARE NOW 16-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Tuition and fees will be lower next year
- Sooners are wearing all-black uniforms this Saturday against TCU

Is it BIG? Or B1G?

BIG, that was my first thought too, interesting choice of wording on the tweet.

any clue what time this afternoon things may break? Will it be something released on the net or some kind of press conference?

DenverSooner751
11/29/2012, 11:38 AM
No clue, it simply said this afternoon.

Typically, things released through official university communications channels are handled by a PR/SID type person so it's curious the emphasis on the word BIG. Either it's just saying we have something large to announce or we're announcing a non-conference agreement with Nebraska? Or something else B1G related....I don't know, pure speculation on my part.

It probably will end up being something like Badger posted but found it to be interesting. Rarely post Twitter things on this forum but thought it would be a worthy discussion starter.

Did they finish all the phases of stadium renovation/expansion? Seems like every time they've done something to improve concessions or scoreboards or whatever, they would say this is Phase such and such of the original plan. I would suspect if all the phases have been completed and this is a new project with regards to stadium, it would have to be new press box/suites as I think Joe C has stated numerous times that this would be next step. Could be a donation but I think any major donation would be tied to a specific project and since above it says @OU Football it must be football related. Will be innersting to see (as Pat Jones might say!)!!!

meh... i doubt we would have pursued tcu/west virginia if nebby stayed. we'd be 10 teams without one of them rather that be 11 like the old big ten. then, we'd play all big 12 teams each season like we do now.

I guess Mangino is sitting back, collecting his payout. I never understand these coaches that can get paid to do nothing for a year or two, but they will accept the next job that comes their way and have money deducted from their payout.. Enjoy life for a bit boys. There is plenty of time for 80 hour work weeks when you get your next job.

Soonersportscom Says BIG Announcement Today The Sooner Network will announce a new series modeled after ESPiN's 30 for 30 series called "They don't have 20/20".
The 1st installment will be called only "Sisco".
The 2nd installment will chronicle The infamous Cutia crew in the Whoregon fiasco, in which the PAC-10 conference vacated the W. (BTW. Why is that guy now on a major sports network commenting on replay calls?).
The 3rd installment will show the infamous Migliazzo caused fumble that wasn't and the Stansbury interception that wasn't that resulted in giving the whorns a tie game in the RRR. Rumor is that there will be 2 episodes produced. The 1st will have a PG rating, and the next will have an R rating and only be shown after midnight, where Barry will narrate and will use the exact wordage he used when chewing the head Refs azz all the way out of the Cotton Bowl.
The Sooner Network will have enough material for at least 10 episodes. The Longwhorn network will try and produce their own similar series, but will only have enough material for a 5 minute segment, and will abandon the project.
The Pokes will try and produce their own similar show, but will also abandon the project when they figure out they don't have their own network and nobody GAS anyway.
