GHP and I are scheming to get a Christmas present for his wife. Her favorite author is doing book signings there, and we're trying to get a book signed for her. If you live in one of those two cities and are free tomorrow or Friday, PM me ASAP! We can PayPal you the money.

TIA!

Have you tried being "friends" of the author on facebook? The author may take to a bit a flattery, especially from a charmer like you, PG. Or, one of the fans on the page may volunteer to help you out. I've gotten several signed books from my favorite authors (nobody terribly famous though). Besides, I find it interesting what some authors write when they aren't writing books.

there was a washington post writer embedded with jk2's unit over in iraq - he wrote a book about the unit - i emailed him and asked explained who i was, etc etc - he graciously agreed to let me mail him the book - he signed it, wrote a note to jk2 - and sent it back

try going direct - they can be pretty accommodating

Yeah, he's got so many fans wanting autographs that not even charm from me will help in that regard. We DID find someone to go to the signing in Kansas City, however, the author had food poisoning and had to cancel. So, that stinks.

Dammit, I wish I had seen it on the 28th. I had an e-mail from B&N offering signed editions, but it's showing sold out :(
