Wouldn't mind Bama winning it all. If they do, it wouldn't be the SEC being dominant, it would just be Alabama being dominant.

So, you'd rather have another 365 days of SEC, SEC, SEC!

I know there's no good answer, but I can't listen to that crap for another year.

As long as LSU, USC, ND, or Oregon are not crowned, I don't care. Besides, Bama is my second team so yes, if OU can't win, I would prefer to see the Tide Roll!

Okay, that makes sense. I don't have a second favorite team, so if it's not OU, I don't really care too much. Just sick of the SEC dominance.

How can Saban seriously say this with a straight face.

There are high stakes for the upcoming SEC championship game between No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia. The winner will play for a national title. The loser likely will slip out of the BCS bowls entirely, falling behind No. 4 Florida. That would put the Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban doesn't think that is fair. “It’s not really a great scenario for either team,” he said on a teleconference Sunday. “You play your way into the championship game, which means you’re the best team in your division. It doesn’t seem quite right. I don’t feel good about it for our football team or their football team.” Saban and Gators coach Will Muschamp are longtime co-workers. They were together at LSU and with the Miami Dolphins. Florida (11-1) is virtually guaranteed a spot in the Sugar Bowl. The Gators are No. 4 in the BCS and should not finish third or fourth. The top four teams are assured spots in BCS games as long as no conference sends more than two teams. It will be hard for a two-loss Alabama or Georgia team to stay ahead of the Gators.

Heh. When we go to the 4 team format, will the 2 teams per conference limit still apply? Maybe Nick is looking ahead and starting the lobbying process now. :)

I actually agree with him. The loser is being punished for making the game whereas Florida is rewarded for not making the game.

That would be fine and all, IF Alabama hadn't just played in a national title game (and BCS bowl) after not winning their conference.

Yes, this.

My other comparable decision to make is whether, if forced to, would I eat a plate of puke first, or a plate of crap.
This whole discussion is making me just about as queasy and I feel the same way about all the choices.

Sort of, but would you rather have a chance to play for the NC, or be guaranteed a BCS bowl?

Ha. I thought the answer would be a no brainer, but I just remembered as I typed this, that the money people are making the decisions in college football these days.

Oh of course, then Bama should just be automatically disqualified for this yr's game, because obviously we all know Nick Saban/ESPN had secret control over the BCS poll last season. Quick, someone call the SEC office and tell them to cancel the game in ATL this weekend.

I'll just put myself solidly in the Bama camp. At this point.. Bama national title number 53 or 54... really doesn't matter. In fact, I say regardless of results on the field we just name them national champs every year along with whoever else actually earns theirs. Somehow keeping them happy in that fashion might ultimately marginalize them in a way that everyone can just go about their business and not even mind their silly noise about Bear this, and national title number 72 that. And while we're at it let's just add to their trophy warehouse a Lombardi trophy for every year since the Civil War.

Heck, it might even silence them altogether as they sit their with a silly self-satisfied grin, content in their belief that they've now won every single national title ever at the college and pro level....

....nahhhh, that could never happen.

Why do you take everything said about Bama personally?

Answer this one simple question:

How can Saban complain about a process that allowed him to play in a National Championship (BCS) game? Isn't that hypocritical?

I agree also with Saban's main point. But for the reason pointed out by others, maybe Mark Richt, whose team beat Florida head to head should be the one voicing the argument. Coach Saban benefitted from not having to play in the SEC title game last year. He was not feeling any sympathy for teams that had to play another game to win a conference or to have a shot at the BCS title game. I was trying to make that same point to my son the other day.

If ND had lost Saturday night, Florida would have been in the national title game, while the team that should have the advantage over them, would have to play one more game (against Bama) to make it to the title game. Stupid, stupid, stupid system, in my opinion.

Even more true, is that Florida would be in the catbird seat over Georgia if this was the first year of the four team playoff. They would definitely be in already. Ridiculous. Think about it. Something needs to be changed.
