the end of the Geno Grissom - Tight End, experiment?

he was playing on the D line quite a bit

i remember before the start of the season, he was the next great "it" at the TE position

when is the last time a TE even had the ball thrown their way?

We're saving the TE for our bowl opponent. Seriously, the TE this season is there for blocking purposes only. That might explain why Grisson is back at DE.

About the only time we even use a TE is in the Belldozer

Heupel used Trent Smith and Seth Litrell a lot when he played. He also reaped the benefits of Q and Works taking pressure off of him. I can't help but wonder why he doesn't make more of an effort to utilize Millard, Hanna, Ratteree, Moose, etc. and the run game anymore than he does. You can't tell me Hanna, Millard and some of the backs we have can't do what the 1999 and 2000 guys did.

I think Jason Garrett and Jason Witten are doing more to hold Hanna down than Heupel.

Looking back at the NC year stats... Littrell only had 32 touches (22 carries and 10 catches) for 179 yards, 2 TD. Millard already has 53 touches, 468 yards, and 4 TD.

Granted the TE position isn't utilized (just don't have a guy this year), but Trent Smith spent a lot of time flexed out in that right slot position. Same spot you'll see Saunders/Shepard playing. Just doing it differently.

Grissom actually moved back a few weeks ago. Stoops says there are so many good receivers, no need to pull one off the field for inexperienced TEs at this point. :ambivalence:

i think Millard has taken a lot of what used to go to some of the TEs. we have done a lot of hybrid FB/TE kinda stuff in the past

our WRs have been outstanding as well, really.

Evidently.

2011 - 27 catches, 381 yards, 2 TD.
2012 - 1 catch, 10 yards

Hanna had his moments, but he also had a ton of drops at OU. Good player that improved every year, especially in the run game. But he's a little more impressive workout guy than a football player.
