My MIL always makes 2 of each kind of pies. I wish she made all four pecan; it always disappears first, then we're stuck with pumpkin for leftover.
Pumpkin is fine...and it is definitely TRADITIONAL. But.....imo.....Pumpkin pies comes in an extremely poor second to the King of Pies: PECAN!!

Pecan is great. I was never a fan of pumpkin.

I will do a small piece of pumpkin, not a fan of pecan. I prefer buttermilk pie over those two but my favorite is strawberry pie.

I hate pie.
I always insist on having a cake made for me so that I will have a dessert to enjoy.

My wife won a blue ribbon in our county fair about 10 yrs ago with a Pecan Pie... she never entered again, because she "proved her point". Ate a slice of that for lunch... now I get my MIL's for supper. :)
hey, there are other good pies... chess pie, apple, pumpkin is okay. Anything w/ meringue is pretty much meh to me. Except lemon, that one is okay.

We just had some homemade apple with Blue Bell vanilla. Blue Bell is a bit more expensive up here than it was in Austin.

As usual, vet is full of wisdom, and tonight at least... pie! I had my quota of Pecan Pie today, so now it's on to the lesser pies during the leftover days ahead. I am a lucky man.

Pecan pie made from native pecans can't be beaten in my opinion.
