If Oklahoma scheduled out of conference games like the SEC teams do then they never would have even played Notre Dame and would be number 2 in the BCS right now.

Bama played Michigan early in year
LSU played Washington
Florida didnt challenge themselves too much with Bowling Green
A&M played Louisiana Tech who is solid.
Georgia noone of significance

No, none of them have a comparable team to Notre Dame but the top few tried to schedule competitive games especially bama with Michigan who was thought to be better going into the year. They just schedule one of their cupcake games in the middle of SEC play instead of before like OU.

They seem to be scheduling smart. The ESPN/ABC guys always say, lose early if you are going to lose a game but win down the stretch.

True, but they've still got a little trip to Tallahassee on their upcoming slate.

And if we'd have beaten Notre Dame we'd be # 1 in the BCS right now. So your point is....?

And if we had not played Notre Dame but replaced them with Popcorn State, we would have one more win and not do us any good either.

I'd rather play good teams every game. You either are or you're not. Play the top teams and you'll know if you are or what you need to do to be.

Yes if we would have won, it would have been great for our "strength of schedule" points in the BCS craziness.
I also think those non conference games are scheduled so far out - who know if they were good then.

The SEC is expected to begin playing 9- game conference schedules in 2014. That will basically mean the conference games + one premier OOC matchup and two directional schools/ cupcakes per yr for our teams.
