I bought a new Colt SP6920 AR-15 over the summer. Five months later, .223 ammo is still a very tight commodity.

Recommendations on where to buy good ammo at a reasonable price? Walmart "carries" a 100-round case of Federal .223 for $34.97, but none of four Walmarts I've been to have had it at any time.

Dean knows a great online resource...I can never remember the name of it though.

Something to do with patriot or liberty or american or along those lines. I am an idiot for forgetting, but I know their prices are rather decent and they don't seem to run out.

Ok..I went and googled...I think it is Midway, but Cabelas, et al have it too. Online is a good option, if you don't need to kill something today.

Look online. Places like ammunitiontogo, midway, sgammo, etc.. It's probably a little more expensive than Walmart, but it is more available. I would suggest buying soon before supplies dwindle too much following the election.

MidwayUSA is where I go. I've purchased 7mm, 22-250, .270, and .223 there recently. Some brands they're out of, but I pretty much just buy Winchester Ballistic Silvertips for hunting, and Fiocchi ammo for blasting away.

You need to find out what days their truck sends their order and who usually handles the stocking of the ammo. It won't guarantee you to find the ammo but you might have a bit better luck. Don't give up if that's your only resource as someone there might be holding the stock back for someone. They aren't supposed to do that but you have to figure that it might be going on. You'll eventually figure out when they send ammo to the store as even the store has very little power over which day they get shipments.

YW.

Honestly...The Tulsa Gun Shows are always great. You have to look around for deals a bit more these days but you can still find them. Especially if you where a Romney 2012 pin. :D ;)

I like the shows in the Large Building more than the one over by the Off-site Betting Place. They seem to have a lot more going on for them and if you can stay in Town....it's a fun 2 day event IMO.

Wanemacher is the name of it. I like it the best.

Just picked up a new Sig-Sauer 516 today.

I buy lots of my bullets at Academy.

Cabelas n bass pro sometimes have decent prices on large packs of ammo.

Dfw ways you could check out military gun supply. I have bought a few 1000 round packs at very nice prices over the years.

Check out ar15.com equipment exchange also. You can opt to trust someone with good feedback or make it a face to face. Can sometimes find decent deals there. I have traded face to face with a few locals in the dfw area and i have bought and traded stuff by trust also.

Buddy of mine just bought a mini-14. He was telling me yesterday that Academy had 300 round boxes of .223 for $130.

I've always loved gun shows. Made it to one about a year ago.

No, it wasn't in Hawaii.

Did they have grenades and RPG's?

I've had a Mini-14 for several years. Like it a lot, but had to supplement it with the new Sig.

There seems to be a gun show here in the Front Rage every weekend somewhere from Pueblo to Fort Collins.

Nice choice btw. I looked into those before opting for the Sig 516Patrol. Picked it up yesterday - haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I think I'm in love! LOL

Naw. Mostly rifles and shotguns. Some pistols and knives.

It was just a County affair.

^ This... Midway is great. And you can round up your purchase for the NRA. Also try SGammo.com in Stillwater. The Sig forum people seem to like this place.
