Stoops reported today that Taylor McNamara had shoulder surgery (didn't specify when), and has applied for a medical redshirt (which Stoops thinks won't be an issue). He is expected to return next year as a redshirt freshman.

That would explain why we haven't seen him in a long time.

He will get his medical redshirt.

Which would also give him a chance to get a 6th year if he wants it or needs it.

And that we hate TE's.

It seems like we have a coach for TEs, but no TEs.

Actually, it seems like we have not had a TE in about 4-5 years.

I thought Green was making strides but haven't seen much of him lately.

Only if he misses another large portion of season due to injury and wins appeal process. Not automatic.

As hard as it is to believe, since 2008 we have had 3 TEs that have ended up on NFL Rosters. Can anybody explain this?

Because we've had very good blocking TEs. Joe Jon Finley, James Hanna (who when he was on was a great pass receiver), and Brody Eldridge. All good blockers.

JG sort of went without saying, I suppose.

Then it would seem with NFL caliber type blockers we would be able to run the ball better.

He's been open for over the head passes.

We've had NFL caliber TEs...which keep getting converted to linemen. And we've had some pretty good linemen too (Duke Robinson, False Start Phil, Trent Williams, Cooper). But how well they play together as a unit...or against 300 pound plus D lines...especially with slow developing run plays...yeesh. We've had/got a good running game, but not a great one.

Me too. He played Saturday, but obviously wasn't involved in any plays. Maybe they just don't look good in practice? I really don't have a clue.
