Everett Golson to start vs. Sooners

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/87/notre-dame-fighting-irish) quarterback Everett Golson (http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/515409/everett-golson) will start in Saturday's showdown at Oklahoma (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/201/oklahoma-sooners) after successfully undergoing post-concussion exercises Monday, Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly said.

"It went very well," Kelly said Tuesday during his news conference. "He feels great, very confident. We wanted to do that more because he hadn't had really the opportunity to get out and run, and we didn't want to wait until Saturday where he's out there and we have some setbacks.
"So he's good, 100 percent, and he'll start for us against Oklahoma on Saturday."
Golson missed this past Saturday's win over BYU (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/252/brigham-young-cougars) after suffering a concussion in the previous weekend's win over Stanford (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/24/stanford-cardinal).
Golson had passed all required concussion testing by last Tuesday but did not fully participate in practice throughout the week, leading Kelly to start junior Tommy Rees (http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/500923/tommy-rees) against BYU.
Kelly had said he wanted to see Golson respond to a full physical exertion exercise before declaring him 100 percent.
Golson has started five games and played in six, competing 58.5 percent of his passes for 968 yards and four touchdowns. The redshirt freshman has thrown three interceptions and has lost four fumbles, adding 81 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns.
