I'm talking about a FIRING, not a retirement, not a resignation, a FIRING.

Nominees are from this ESPN article here (http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/blog/_/name/haney_travis/id/8545240/evaluating-hot-seat-levels-gene-chizk-derek-dooley-other-coaches-ncf)

I don't think Bo is in such a great position now that Tom is stepping down as AD.

Dooley's seat is hotter than his orange pants if UT'ers are going after the rock:

I have a feeing about Chizik possibly out living his welcome at Auburn.

I think you're right. Firing both his NFL GM and his college head coach will cause Cam Newton to understand the "MUST WIN NOW" nature of the NFL.

I thought John L. Smith was some sort of interim coach. Won't they just say his term expired vs. being fired?

UGA could still win the BCS title if they win out.

But they won't and they'll probably have more embarrassing losses starting with this Saturday.

Yeah, he won't be back next year, but it's not a firing, per se.

Will he survive his interim season if they keep losing (and his debt woes keep chasing him) or would Arky oust him earlier?

Remember, no matter what the press release says, coaches rarely retire. They are forced into it.

Ah, got it. Smith is probably hoping for a $40m+ buyout.

Kirk Ferentz of Iowa should be on that list too.

I think Gruden would be a really good college coach and recruiter. The Gruden vs Saban games could be some really good ball.

I think Gruden's name has come up for every major hire every time he's seemingly going to be available or is available.

I think he's one of those guys that is a very good Coach but never seems to be as successful as they really thought he could be. Sure he won a Super Bowl but look at his record....

95–81–0 (Regular Season)
5–4 (Postseason (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postseason))
100–85–0 (Overall)

He really found a Home in Tampa by winning Super Bowl XXXVII but as a Coach....he's been a lot of places. Maybe he's ready to go full circle.

Comparing his NFL career to what he could be as a college coach is comparing apples and oranges. See Pete Carroll.

Chucky? Pleeez. Has he ever head coached a college team? It's a whole different animal. I'm not sure he has game anymore, esp. dealing with teenage boys.

It's much more fun for Gruden's name to get tossed around than Stoops'. I especially like that it took the media giving up, rather than Stoops losing too much for his name to stop getting mentioned :D

I think you did this prior to the season starting, and I picked Dooley then. Picked him again now.

As for John L. Smith, he was only contracted for this season, and there's no way Arkansas will fire him now (what's the point). He'll be gone after the season.
