View Full Version : Dear Casinos....

It was the first time at one in awhile Sunday Night. I was tired and it just seemed like my sleep pattern had flipped on me after getting Home so late after the KU Game in Norman. I had a few bucks and could stick it out at the one armed bandits for quite awhile. I had won most of my money back when I sat down at one of those Ruby Reds. I played it on $3 a spin and on the 5th one the lights came on and it took me to the bonus screen. I made off with $500+. I cashed it out and went to one of the ATM Type machines they have replaced many Cashiers with. I then went in and bought a Crown Reserve on the rocks. I hadn't had a drink in a long time and since they were buying.....WTH. :D

Anyway I go play some more at another machine and since the machine I won on earlier rang loud with all the bells....I attracted some attn. So I sit down at this one and play for around an hour. It's taking a little and giving a little and suddenly it spits out $409. I start getting people around me that seem to be looking for a $20 to turn their luck around. :calm: So I go back to the bar and buy these two folks a drink right before closing time. One guy used to spar with James Quick Tillis (Former Heavyweight Boxer from Tulsa...nice guy IMO). I think James got to hit a lot of people back in the day that wanted to be able to say they sparred with him. Next thing I know there is around 10 people looking for a beer.....lol.

Back to my point....

Dear Casinos....

Thank you for the $900+ but I'm not buying any of those folks drinks or spotting them a $20. You have more dough than me. Why don't you consider letting them win every now and then. It seemed like I'm the only one that can get a little money out of you. Quit being so tight. Maybe there would be more than 50 people in your Casino if you did. What a bunch of needy Klingons. It was like the meth lab was down the street to the left.....lol Also....thanks for watching me walk to my car without any security too. Can't you a$$wipes afford any security anymore?

Sincerely

Happy Guy that's going to the ND Game this weekend. :D

Yep, it was divine intervention that you were able to buy (or justify the cost) of OU/ND tickets this week.

I went into the one in Durant with a supplier on our way to Dallas.
He just HAD to put $10 in a slot machine.
He lost his tenner.
We drove on to Dallas and had sales calls.
The end.

Good ol Choctaw Casino. I've been in there a few times, got relatives that practically live there. I'm sure it's a coincidence that they're practically all broke??

I haven't seen one in a while but there was an Odyssey video machine...it had a variety of games you could play...one of which of which was blackjack...

You could put up to ten coins for each hand...and if you won you could double up on high/low with 7 being a push...you could continue to double up till you cashed or lost...

I always seemed to have pretty good luck on the thing...

I was driving past Tunica Grand after a business trip and decided to drop a hundred before heading on home...

I hit a quarter machine and couldn't lose...made about 50 bucks in five minutes and thought to myself "**** this, I am hitting the dollar machine"

Couldn't lose...pocketed a hundred to keep me even and headed to the five dolla machine located in the high stakes room...

Decided to go Daddy Warbucks and dropped in fifty bucks on a single hand...won it and doubled up..won and doubled to 200...twice more and I was up to a 800 on one 50 buck bet...I sat there...what to do, what to do...even if I lost I was still even so I doubled up one last time and actually won...

1600 and I cashed out...1650, all in about 15 minutes...only had time for one free beer...drove home with a smile...

I won't discuss my play at the Station after the 2000 Big 12 game in KC...I wasn't quite so lucky...

I know someone who has done accounting audit crap for casinos, so basically, here's what you need to know about those d@mn slots:

They are preset to payout a certain percentage of intake.

The high traffic area ones are preset to payout more, like maybe 95 percent of intake. That way, people see more winning and feel like more paying and such.

Most slows are lower, like maybe 90 percent (I really don't remember the exact percentages).

So basically, the jackpot that one person wins was made off of previous suckers paying in.

Your best bet at winning games are skill games (poker, blackjack), not chance games.

Eff playing in Oklahoma casinos--- that game is for suckers.

When I play, I go to Vegas. When I go to Vegas, I make sure that I've brushed up on all of my skills (BJ, craps, etc...) and I know what games to play (lowest house edge) and which ones to stay the hell away from. Slots I avoid like the plague, but I do love me some video poker and budget a small amount for that-- usually played when I have a small amount of time to kill between going off and doing other things. Anybody who sits there at a stereotypical slot machine mindlessly putting in money and pushing buttons deserves to lose their money.

This. I don't gamble for 2 reasons, 1) principle (I think it's wrong), and 2) in my younger days I discovered that I totally suck at it. But if you are going to, learn to play cards and do it well. Don't just roll dice, spin wheels, or yank bandits. Use your brain.

Last September, I was in Vegas for three days. The first night, I was at the Mirage, playing craps. I left (after about 3 hours) up almost 2 grand. The next day, I slept in, ate a huge late breakfast, took my time getting back to the casino floor (thinking I was big time). Fast forward to the next morning...down about $1,500 and looking for an earlier flight out...with a hangover.

My problem is the same every-time I'm in Vegas...I don't walk away when I'm up. The only time I left Vegas up was when I went with my gf. And, after all the money I spent "shopping", going to dinner and the shows (which I almost never do otherwise), I was still down when I left.

Good times.

With as many casinos as Oklahoma's getting, could you see Oklahoma one day turning into a Nevada of sorts?

It wouldn't be all bad --- they are a landlocked desert state next to a state with a huge population that's full of themselves ready to lose tons of money in our casinos, and they've had a huge population boom since the turn of the century thanks to lax gambling laws.

Of course, it'd be over some people's dead bodies to legalize prostitution.

Yup. Exactly. That's how I am too.

But lots of people like the slots. And in the end it's all about entertainment value. If they are having fun throwing their money away, more power to them.

Nah. Vegas will always be the big time. Gambling's been legal in Colorado for a long time, and there are some cool places to go (Blackhawk, Cripple Creek, etc), but nothing like Vegas. Same with places like Biloxi, MS. Neat little casinos, but nothing like the big boys.
