Tomorrow I have to go pick up about 70 or 80 rifles, shotguns and pistols. What exactly are the rules for transporting them? I know they can't be loaded but that's about it. Can I put them in the back seat of my truck or do I need to put them in the bed? Should I talk to a local cop and ask him. I've never carried a big number of guns anywhere before. I don't want to get pulled over and thrown in jail forever. Oh...............in case you guys are wondering.....father-in-law passed away and it's his collection. TIA

Here as long as you can prove legality if asked, you should be good,Get a temp Bill of sale er somepun if need be.

Like you said, Check and make sure they are ALL unloaded, you shouldn't have any Probs

Me? I'd just go do it and Not worry about it Far as I know you aint breakin any laws
And yes years ago I had My FFL and owned a gun store

Make sure all are unloaded and you are good to go. Double check chamber and magazine of each gun.

Potential problems. You dont know how he aquired these. Not saying he is a thief but anyone buying that many guns has real potential to have unknowingly purchased a stolen one. I dont know what to do about that other than having a friend leo or in the biz run them for you. Also check and make sure that none of them are class III weapons. DO NOT take posession of any suppressors, full auto or short barreled guns (except pistols). You really need to take any semi autos out for a test run (not at a public range) eventually and make sure none of them have been illegally modified to full auto. That is the quickest way to wind up in jail. If you find a class III gun or item, immediatly bring it to the executers attention and make sure they take custody. Again, the executor of the will is the only person who can legally take possesion of class III guns. Contact the BATF and find out what steps you need to do to take possesion of those items.

I would get a couple of those cheap egg crate matts or some heavy blankets to seperate them and break it up into 2 or 3 trips unless its a really long drive. If they are unloaded and boxed up in your bed then you wont have any problems.

The easiest way to avoid any legal trouble with transporting guns is make sure you have the guns fully unloaded and make sure any ammo is seperated or out of easy reach.

By my count that's about 1/5 of them. I guess some people can never have too many guns.

I believe it's inside the car. It might be an early 60s instead of a 59 now that I look at it better.
