Check out my first installment in a three part series of my preview of the upcoming season of Sooner hoops! As this is an overview, its more informational than anything, but I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to read :). Stay tuned for parts two and three which will focus on the roster and schedule.

Awesome. Glad to have a mens basketball fan posting here regularly :)

I admit that watching that KU 30 for 30 last night made me jealous of their history. It was like OU football, except in basketball. All the history, all the tradition, all the fandom... :(

So, I'm ready for the Sooner men to shock the world. Oregon State was picked last in the Pac 12 North and they're still undefeated in football, so there's precedent this sports season!!! :D

Nice write up!

Word is that the Sooners are going to be up tempo/full court press this year. Also (from the same source), freshman Je'lon Hornbeck is lighting it up in practice. It won't be long...

Very well done. Love BB season. It kept me from mental breakdown in the 90s.

Thanks guys :). If you don't mind, I've posted part 2 now. http://wp.me/prUUN-NpP Tried to do my best to sum up each player on the roster, although I've only had a limited viewing of the freshmen in the few practices I've seen so far.

Nice article. I'm cautiously optimistic that we will be an improved team this year. I think we may be another year off from a run at making the NCAA

First game tonight against Washburn.

Starting line-up per Mike Houck:

Cousins
Hornbeak
Pledger
M'Baye
Osby

Very interesting that Fitz, Grooms, and Clark aren't starting. This tells me that we brought in some really good talent and actually have depth this year. NCAA Tourny or bust!

I also find it interesting that Cam Clark and Captain Fitz aren't starting. That has to be a tiny ego hit. Or perhaps, they'll sit for the good of the team and because they have to be sick of not being in the tourney since the Blake days

Observations from the Washburn scrimmage for those who weren't there. http://wp.me/prUUN-NDx :). Also Part 3 previewing the regular season schedule will be coming soon. Sorry for the delay, I don't get paid for this (hopefully someday) and have a job and school :P. I appreciate all your feedback though guys.

Also I doubt Cam or Fitz start this year. Based on what I've seen from practice and the scrimmage I'd expect the lineup to be:

Grooms
Hornbeak
Pledger
M'Baye
Osby

With Hield and Fitz providing the scoring spark off the bench, and Cam and Cousins rotating in consistently. Hield and Hornbeak could be swapped, but I think it would make more sense to have a scoring spark like Hield off the bench, in case the starters are in a funk.
