Cue the inevitable condescending comments from Californians about wimpy Mainers (?) and hardy Californians.

Meanwhile those Californians are completely unaware that what they felt of a 6.0 earthquake 40 miles away might have been less than what one might have felt 40 miles away from this quake.

Plenty of Californians who experienced the Virginia earthquake said it felt much larger than the number and that was due to the different geology and how the shock waves do not attenuate nearly as rapidly over distances. In California if you are not near the epicenter you did not feel the brunt of the quake.
