Carter. Carter was a terrible president but a reasonably good ex-president for a while.

Now as bad as that is, the silver lining is that without Carter winning, Reagan doesn't win in 80. Reagan won because Carter was so bad.

Jesus Christ. Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover were engineers. We should learn lessons from electing engineers to be our President.

But I'm especially proud of my two Clinton votes.

Bush two times

Obama (would have had my vote if I would have got my voter registration in kansas in a day earlier....doh!)

Still not sure who ill vote for this time. But I know it probably won't be for Obama. Trying to decide between Romney or Johnson.

I could have voted for Ford, but I was away at school and didn't. I did shake his hand though when he was coming out of a campaign stop at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse that we had gone up to see.
So my first was Reagan in 80. I waited in a long line at the end of the day. The TVs that were on were already calling the election for Reagan. "Why did I just wait in line for an hour and a half?"

I'd like to say I remember for sure but I really don't. I might have voted for McGovern in 72 if they were letting under 21 vote then...otherwise it was Ford in 76. Once I got in business school I saw the error of my ways.

Goodness, Carter was BAD. Talk about a gutless prez. But, the good thing about his presidency, it provided much entertainment in the form of incessant griping by my grandpa. Great stuff. In '80, I was too young to vote, so I did the next best thing....

My grandpa now calls our president O-bam-uh when I talk to him on the phone. It sounds kind of like Oh-bama when he says it, not the "oh-bhamah" that most people pronounce it as, heh.

To Carter's credit, if only he would keep his yapper shut, he did so much Habitat for Humanity work to the point that he appeared in both Simpsons and King of the Hill in that role of house-builder :)

They tried to force us to vote when I was in the army in 1976, so I refused.

I voted for Ronnie Raygun in 1980 as a civilian. Back then I was registered as a D, but was growing up and realized the error of my ways. Switched to the R party before the 1984 election.

Yes, Carter did many good things as an ex-president. We should have elected him ex-president to begin with.

Clinton is about where I expected him to be as ex-president --- his wife and his ego (one and the same?) are dissallowing him to gracefully step outta the spotlight, for better (working with Bush Sr. to fundraise after natural disasters) and for worse (everything else).

Bush Sr. is also a pleasant surprise. The fact that he would work with Clinton to fundraise after natural disasters, after Clinton defeated him in 1992 (and there weren't exactly pleasantries exchanged between the two in that election) is admirable.

Bush Jr. has really not done a whole lot. Can't say that's entirely unexpected.

I wonder what Obama will do when he out of office, either after this election or the next. He and his family are too young to just retire from everything

He was given amnesty just like Nixon.

I didn't vote for him either. I did see the Discovery Channel's Curiosity Documentary where they intentionally crashed the Boeing 727 that Bob Dole (who I did vote for) campaigned around the Country in. I guess the plane was as destined as Bob's Campaign to crash but not burn.

Very cool how they found that the Wiring which most new planes are full of, would be a really huge obstacle in getting out of a plane after it's crashed. Also that assuming the crash position instead of just sitting there enjoying your (possibly last moments alive) IPOD - favorite tunes or if your Alec Baldwin....your last word with your friends, would probably cripple you or give you a broken ankle or tibia. Everyone in 1st class on that one would have been toast, even draft dodgers who made a lot of money and always fly 1st class.

he actually ahs done quite a bit of humanitarian stuff--mostly in Africa with HIV/AIDS stuff. but like he said when he left office, he wasn't going to be an ex-prez that still wanted to be in the limelight. after 8 years and the worst terrorist attack in our nations history, i'm sure he is enjoying being out of the public light.

Ford
Reagan x 2
Bush the Greater x1
-- they all seemed like a good idea at the time. Mostly I believed the baloney about R's being better on defense than D's.

Then, the fall of the USSR made "strong on defense" not such a dire necessity, plus the lack of response to Tiananmen Square and Prince William Sound made voting for Bush the Greater "inconceivable" (H/T Wallace Shawn + 25 years).

Perot x 2
Gore
Kerry
Obama
(projected) NOTA

OBTW, "strong on defense" <> esacalating defense acquisitions as far as the eye can see when we're already spending c. what the entire rest of the world spends, while borrowing money from China to do it.
