View Full Version : So, it's texas week.

I feel a lot better after today's win in Lubbock, but it's texas...and you never know.

Here's how I look at it, the winner of the RRR is almost always the team with the better QB. If Landry plays like he did today (or better), we win. Texas looks like the same old team, a ton of talent and still can't beat ranked teams. Their vaunted defense was destroyed by WVU (both through the air and on the ground). WVU on the other hand, doesn't have anything on defense to write home about.

What makes this game so tough is not knowing which Sooner team will show up, however, I think today was a good indication of the mettle this team has.

the winner of the RRR is almost always the team with the better QB.

and in Stoops' era it's always the team with more rushing yards

I don't put much stock into stuff like that. Since World War 2, no team had won two in a row and failed to win the third in this rivalry. Now it's happened twice since 2007.

Yeah, but it was texas that failed to win the 3rd game both times, and texas sucks.

Sooners are better! Don't turn the ball over and we should roll.

Under Stoops and Brown, the team that out rushed the other team has never lost.

What ya think?

If OU plays like they did last year against Texas, and bring their "A" game, Texas does not have a chance. I only hope the refs don't have "Eyes of Texas."

Outrush them and have less turnovers and win. If not, then lose. That's big in any game, but it holds even more true in this series.

I hope Josh notices how the pokes and WVU both had 200yd rushers against the horns. Their D line will bring pressure and running the ball effectively is the best way to combat that (along with LJ staying cool).

I watched WVU and Texas game and I saw they used the backup qp in the same way and style that we used Blake Bell. Just an interesting thing to note.

While some lament that sa*et is not 5-0 going into this game, I for one don't mind seeing them with a loss. The only thing better would be to see them with 2 losses and OUr Sooners are going to take care of that this Saturday.

Why I like to see em lose, to anyone, anytime? Cuz it makes my excursions to whornsfans.com sooooo enjoyable!

Re: Reality Check: we are what we are [re: el squared]

What it comes down to is a coach who can field a team that 1)more than not wins the conference title and 2) is in the mix for the MNC every year. Currently Nick Saban is doing that at Alabama and Chip Kelly is doing it at Oregon. Stoops, Tressel, and Caroll were doing it the previous decade. MB finds a way almost every year (01, 02, 04, 06, 08) to lose a crucial game that knocks Texas out of Big 12 title contention, not to mention sticking a true freshman in the 09 MNC game.

We are Texas. Giving up 48 at home should be inexcusable. Having won two Big 12 titles in 14 full seasons under MB is atrocious. Everyone saying "but '13 is gonna be better and '14 will be THE year"....guess what I've heard those before. It ain't gonna happen.

My first RRR since 03, I hope the outcome is similar! :D
This will be my 12th to attend. A lot of weird things happen there and it's not always the better team that wins.
Usually, the team that wins the turnover battle is the victor. Not to mention what whatshisname said about needing to rush for more... :)

All kidding aside, that Bergeron feller impressed me. I hope our D is stout against him. I still am trying to figure out if he is that good or the WVU D is so bad, anyone looks good.

Baylor scored 63 points on WVU in Morgantown. What more do you need?
