IMHO, Romney won because Obama was not prepared for yesterday's debate. He repeated things he was pre-rehearsed to say over and over and did not present new information as the debate moved on at times. He seemed rattled by Romney's responses and remarks.

Perhaps George was reading all of his liberalliberalliberal critique online, but even he didn't side with the Democrat for once. (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew-balan/2012/10/04/stephanopoulos-breaks-pro-democratic-streak-crisp-romney-get-boost-de)

I think Romney won because his views make more sense to running a self sustaining government. Obama's ideas appeal to some folks image of some kind of liberal utopia.

blazed away with both guns and Obama hardly fired back at all.

I remember thinking last night before the debate...what would have to take place for MSNBC to verbally admit on air, that Romney won the debate. I guess we just witnessed it.

My favorite line of the entire debate (and I've heard no one reference it)

(both candidates had been exchanging on the economy for about 10 minutes)
Barack - "Let me make one more point and then maybe we can move on to another topic..."

Yeah, pretty much about a 6 move checkmate.

Yeah, it sounds funnier when you say it out loud. It looked Obama was thinking to himself at times, "did I just say that?"

The only reason I voted in this no-brainer poll was that hopefully the news media will quote it tonight at some time. lol
I was amazed at one of the experts on one of the networks last night. I don't remember the women's name, but underneath her name it said something like "Democratic party strategist." She was also black.
I could not believe it when SHE was saying Romney won and had much better ideas. I did a double take. Usually they all try to spin it and won't admit a defeat. She was flat out saying it, and sounded like she was changing her vote.

I am feeling much better about life today.

Mitt Won Hands Down. Potus couldn't look Romney in the eye, he just kept shaking his head, looked dejected , almost pissed off and couldn't counter attack Romney on policies. At the same time I also felt he was trying to defend his policies. At times it seemed like it takes one second to make an accusation but it takes minutes to defend and prove accuser wrong. I think that's what happened to Obama.

There is a green light that you can see over the moderators shoulder that I assume is the signal to the debaters about their time. I think that signal should be on a small screen in the corner of our TVs to show we viewers what is going on in that regard. As expected the challenger won the first one. Usually happens to an incumbent president in the debates. The challenger can target the incumbents first term policies and administration approaches.

That said, also as expect, the Obama camp came right out after the debate firing away about Romney not giving specifics.

That said...I'm not sure what debate the Obama camp witnessed. Romeny didn't go into great detail in anything, but he was pretty specific with his 5 point economic plan. What he would do with the Dod Frank legislation, and even concerning Obamacare.

After the debate the Obama camp also tried to ay Romney admitted to a medicare voucher program. He didn't. And he said it more than once what his goal would be when dealing with medicare.

I also found it hilarious Obama continued to say Romney wanted to cut 5 trillion in taxes of the rich as well spen 2 trillion more in defense, even after romney said it over and over that it ws not true.

There were no great one liners, but Romney got the best shot in when he compared Obama to one of his five boys when they were younger. About how one would say something that wasn't true and keep saying it until someone believed it.

4omney won the debate, not on one liners or being overly agressive. He won it because he had facts and better ideas. While Obama went in saying talking points and false facts.

Oh and one last thing, loved how Romney threw out how Obama keeps picking losers when speaking about energy independence. And how he laid it straight that it wasn't because of Obama that the oil and gas industry is doing so well.

Town hall format? That's for the birds for many reasons.
To name a couple:

1. The audience is pretty much hand picked by both candidates.
2. The questions are screened and approved.

Or at least in 2008 they were.

Screw town hall discussion formats. Get real debates like we saw yesterday.

Me personally...I would like to see the candidatees seating in a chair, relaxed. Have a moderator between them. And have a format like a coaches show. Where they get 5-10 minutes in opening statements/conversation. Then the other goes. Then give about a 15-20 segment of where they get to go back and forth on the issues that each talked about heading in. Where they can ask each other questions and then answer them.

Finally, for the last hour segment, have a call in show. Where citizens call in and ask a question. They stay on the line until it is answered. Then they can do one follow up question.

Then they can pick out a few emails, tweets, or facebook questions and have the candidates answer them if they are not repeat questions.

Screw hand pick audiences and questions. Let the real folks have a chance to ask them a question!

I don't know for certain but I think question approval is not done by
the campaigns but by someone by the Debate Commission, looking
for political relevance and that sort of thing.

I like your format idea but the call in portion would prolly be a logistical
nightmare, for timing purposes for tv...

Coming in late on both threads.
But, Romney was in his wheel house, the economy and jobs/business. As someone noted he had a complete "command of the facts"!

Obama was, as he has been in his Presidency,...detached and disinterested enough not to respond....maybe that was overconfidence.

**BUT, watching video clips of Chris Matthews "EXPLODE" on air was worth the price of admission!

I really can't phathom how Stoop and Dean can think that the debates aren't important.
We go through year of the candidates spinning their own message. And, the debate is the only time they get to directly confront, answer, and refute! (for those still undecided/confused)

Perhaps Obama was expecting the media to put up better intereference for him?
But, more likely that he has simply used up most of his energies fund raising, playing golf, and his brain is flashing with the words on his campaign teleprompters.
His lack of command of facts and figures shows that he is not "involved" directly in the economy, leadership wise.

He has allowed Harry Ried and Nancy Peel to carry the water too long.
The bucket is empty. So if Obama and Chris Matthews go up the hill to fetch apail of water....something else will be wetting down his leg...not water!

I know they are important to you Cruiser. I mean you finally have something to crow about. Maybe you didn't read the part where I was backing up some files and all our phones as I am changing our provider and the sim cards that go in the phones. It's kind of a PITA.

Anyway....I was mostly just screwing around and tossing out quotes I was hearing the many talking heads that were sitting around at round tables. Folks around here are so Pro-Romney and Anti-Obama that anything I said got a snipe and many got so worked up that they took it as like I was Obama's Election Manager and had walked into their house and kicked them in the balls and told them that they didn't win sh*t. It's not real hard to toss out the bait when the sharks are circling a 10 mile stretch of water chummed in blood.

My Wife (Republican all her life)wanted to see the Debate. I told her I didn't want to hear the talking heads and put the channel on CSPAN but somehow it got changed and I didn't make a big deal out of it once I saw the Media was saying Romney won the debate.

I didn't see Matthews explode. I'm sure that I'll get a chance to see a YouTube video of it if it was so good. At the very least you'd think that Bill Maher will have him back on his HBO Show. That should be really interesting....

I did watch some replays/highlights of the debate today while playing ping pong with the ole vet. I watched the obama and Romney Campaign appearances too.

Foreign policy isn't going to work out so well for Obama after lying to the American people for 2 weeks on what happened in Libya. A little late to the game here but I have a question... how is it that a guy who has a 5-star chef living in the same place with him looks so underfed, so... slim? All he's gotta do is send a junior staffer down for a cheeseburger and fries if he wants 'em, with a king-sized coke and a couplea chocolate chip cookies. Right?

And here the guy is lookin... slim... enough to make ya wonder if he's gettin enough to eat. Whats up with that?

Lots of crow.

LATEST CONJECTURE!!!!!

Bob Woodward (aka Watergate Bob) was on FOX this evening.
He is pushing the theory that Obama was very upset about some news he may have gotten shortly before the debate.
There is a story perculating on a potential scandal about foreign money making it's way into Obama's Presidential campaign.
