Truly one the greatest historians of our time. When I read, "The Southern Tradition" in high school it had a major impact on reinforcing and strengthening my paleconservative principles that are rooted in southern agrarianism. His writing on slave life and southern antebellum political philosophy and ideology should be required reading for anyone interested in American history.
