View Full Version : Stoops's home record is still much better than Switzer's

In case anyone cares. Of course, the opposite could be said for Switzer's road record.

But right now, pretty much dead heat between the two on record v. Texas and bowls (Switzer bowls 8-5, Stoops 7-6).

So before you wish Stoops "begone", be careful what you are wishing for.

Just sayin'...

Why, is somebody asking for Switzer to come back?

DON'T COME BACK, BARRY! I can't STAND to see the Packers lose to the Cowboys as much as they did in the 90s!

...wait. Are you referring to another Barry? The only Barry I remember is the one that stood in Green Bay's way to the Super Bowl mid-90s. Grrrrr. Hated that Barry.

Bob Stoops isn't playing Barry Switzer's Kansas State these days.

That's the argument we use with Texas, so it's a fair thing to bring up.

Of course, we also talk about Heisman count. Stoops: 2

Both are two of the best! College football now is a different animal than it was in the 70's and 80's as well. I think it's difficult to compare different decades also.

No one's talking about Stoops needing to be gone. More than a couple of us would like to see him instill the same sort of terror in his assistants and players that Little Nicky Satan does, though.

I don't want him being a clone of Nick Saban. I just want the same level of accountability he required the 1st half of his tenure.

On the bowl comparison another big difference is "BCS bowls":

Switzer - 7-4
Stoops - 3-5

Also, remember, Switzer coached in an era when the best 2 teams rarely played for the title. If you were ranked # 2 or below on New Year's Day it was usually out of your hands whether you won the title or not.
