Chicago caves to the teacher's union: leaves in the 16% (on average) pay raises and will negotiate about performance standards.

Who knew Chicago and the state of Illinois had so much extra cash in their budget? LOL

I guess this keeps the President from having to drop cash out of a helicopter.

I can't decide if they deserve the pay for having to deal with some of the worst kids in the country, or don't deserve it for having such a lousy graduation rate.

If this is another one of those situations where they pay nothing toward their pensions or healthcare, its sounds like another unsustainable deal waiting to screw someone down the road.

How about they don't deserve it because the organization they work for is flat azzed broke. If the company I
worked for was broke I would be looking for a pink slip, not a raise.

Apparently Illinois is delinquent in paying about 6 billion dollars it owes to vendors and other companies it does business with but they somehow found money to pay hundreds of millions to teachers in the form of raises.

This is just economic suicide.

So the community organizing trainer did a good job in this instance.
Wish he'd go back.
Chicago deserves him!
