Auston English is listed under this designation for the Browns. Anybody got the quick details? Thanks in advance

In the NFL, that means he is out for the full season including playoffs. He is still under contract to the Browns but they can add another player to the 53 man roster to take his place.

Slight tweak of the rule was approved last month where one desginated player per team could come back based on the criteria mentioned in the article. In the last part of the article, in English's case, he could reach an injury (monetary) settlement with the Browns.

It's another reason why the NFL isn't anywhere near as fun and exciting as college ball.
