According to none other than Mayor Dewey Bartlett himself.

"Mayor (Mick) Cornett, we continue to look to you and Oklahoma City for inspiration as a leading example of rebirth, renewal and breaking new ground," Bartlett said.

"You've turned Oklahoma City into a destination, and we are so proud to be your sister city."

By NBC News

A woman who vanished last weekend was found alive in a freezer in west Tulsa, Okla., after possibly climbing inside to take shelter from a storm, NBC station KJRH reported.

Follow @NBCNewsUSTheresa Christian, 59, disappeared Saturday and was discovered Wednesday with severe freezing of the legs, KJRH said. She was listed in serious condition, KJRH reported.

Her sons told the station they are relieved she was found alive.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"She wasn't answering the phone or anything like that, so I came by here (Tuesday) night, about 10:30, knocked on the door, knocked on the door, and I couldn't get a response or anything," Christian's son, Jermal Stewart, told KJRH.

Advertise | AdChoicesTuesday, Christian's brother, William Andy Jr., entered the apartment near W. 23rd Ave. and Southwest Blvd. and did not find her.

"We went through the house calling out her name and stuff and couldn't get a response or anything," Andy told KJRH.

Stewart went back to the apartment early Wednesday and had the apartment's maintenance crew unlock the door again.

"I heard her say, 'Help me, help me,'" Stewart said.

Stewart told KJRH he opened a closet door in the kitchen and saw his mother sitting in the freezer, unable to move.

Police told reporters they suspect Christian crawled into the freezer to hide from a tornado that threatened to hit Tulsa, and then couldn’t get out because her legs were frozen.

"Possibly she thought maybe there was a tornado coming, but they're not really sure why or how she got there," Tulsa police Cpl. Daisy Vallely told KJRH.

No foul play is suspected, KJRH reported.

Freezer≠tornado shelter, must be a Tulsa thing...

OKC is certainly no Norman, but it's better than Tulsa.Tulsa's major problem is that there are WAY too many orange aggy fans there.

Oklahoma City has a whole list of cultural centers and events that have nothing to do with cows. When you have a couple of months, you should check them out.

I gotta tell you I travel all over the country and I am always excited to go to OKC. Someone said OKC is a cow town. I think that is so true and I think it is a pretty damn cool cow town. The place is always changing and getting better. But it should not forget its roots and history. OKC is a western city and it should not try to be like some of the cities in the east. I love going to the stockyards, grabbing a steak at Cattlemen's and checking out Little Joes Boots. The Brickyard is a lot of fun and the people in the city are wonderful. Folks in OKC should not have to play second fiddle to anyone. You have a great and unique city! Be proud.

5-0Their homemade salad dressing is the only creamy salad dressing I will eat. My son always picks Cattleman's, when its his turn to pick the restaurant. For a long time, he was my only child. I would take him there all the time. :D

Growing up we'd sometimes go eat at the restaurant at the stockyards. Everyone would get steak but me. I always got the chicken fry with good cream gravy.

I was in high school before I learned to not put ketchup on my steak automatically.

Someone suggested, "Hey ! Why not taste the steak before you ruin it." I haven't used ketchup on steak since.

I like OKC. I always found the people to be very friendly. Love the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Cows and cowboys are part of the "culture," so Stockyard City may be considered a "cultural center." Might not be the culture you're looking for, but it is culture.
This is one area where Texas beats us. Oklahoma doesn't have anything to close to Austin or even Marfa.

I lived in Normal for four years back in the 1980's. I have been visiting Tulsa most of my life for family. I only returned here 4 years ago and have been working my butt off on a 'fixer-upper' company, so most of my 'knowledge' of the two metro areas is very dated.

Tulsa, however, is hands down more attractive. Trees. Green plants. A river. Vertical relief. Actual architecture. Some form of local history shows up in neighborhoods. Local bars that are more than 5 years old.

Now, OKC-ites, convince me I'm wrong. I've always enjoyed 'the city', but can't really think of anything that's all that wonderful there. Probably my ignorance. I travel there a couple times a month. What should I be looking into when I'm there?

(and, no, Norman is NOT a part of OKC, so don't go there.)

I love that place. I've won a lot of money there playing poker. Lost big playing Blackjack. So... never bet against the house, only fellow man.

Also, that golf course is amazing, and super tough.
