If you were given the opportunity to go to either school which one would you chose?

My "ex" was wait listed at Yale and graduated from Harvard Law School and she said it was worth every penny. 44,000 per year......

Boston or New Haven, CT? I'll take Harvard.

I love Boston. I have never been to New Haven, but I could really get into going to Harvard. My niece is 4 and she plans on going to Harvard Law School because Elle Woods went there.

MIT. They learn how to blow crap up better.

I actually got a very nice letter from MIT while I was in high school.

It was a rejection letter. ;)

At least you had the guts to apply! I was just curious. Been to both web sites and can not see which one is better, of course. Just wondering IF I had the grades what could have been.

All of the women from Harvard are lesbians, and all of the men from Yale are homosexuals.

This is a good reference point from which to begin.

In other words, if you're normal, don't go to either school, you IDIOT!

Definitely Harvard. My aunt is a law professor there. She will be on Dr. Phil tuesday promoting her new book. Being smart must be way cool.

Oh yeah, nevermind.

Boston rocks. I was pretty disappointed by the Harvard campus, though. I had built it up in my mind and was expecting it to be the most beautiful campus I've every visited. I can tell you without question OU is a lot more aesthetically pleasing. That one was a shocker to me.

After visiting Oxford, I can tell you I REALLY wish I would have spent a couple of years there, though.

I wouldn't go to either. My cousin went to MIT and she used to wear a sweatshirt that said,

HARVARD
Because not everyone can get into MIT

One of the great days in my life
was when the mailman delivered three letters of acceptance to my son.
Harvard,Yale, and Dartmouth.

He chose Yale. It was a great educational experience for him.

I can't imagine trying to pay for the tuition there. WOW. Education wise, how much better is it from any other big name school, OU, Stanford etc.

KC//CRIMSON
10/20/2003, 01:19 PM
You get loans, grants, scholarships...etc...

Once you graduate from one of these Ivy league schools, your pretty much set for life..

Fortunately, it was back in the early 80s when room, board, and tuition was only $8000 to $11000 per year. Current price for same is probably in the 20G or 30G range....and I can't imagine paying for THAT either. (Stanford is probably in that range now, as well.)

As to whether it's worth it....that depends on what the student makes of the opportunity.

I went to a Harvard game and the QB was majoring molecular biology and one of the lineman was majoring in physics or something like that. It was very weird.

I've got to tell my Harvard grad story. My step mother is an RN, she worked with a surgeon in California that graduated near the top of his class. He was a dorky, big nosed, balding guy that couldn't figure out how to work a coffee machine and he had this HOT! girlfriend and a Porsche 911. His hospital decided to drop his $200k a year contract. The same day his girlfriend decides she really doesn't love him after all. He couldn't believe his luck. Lost his job and his girlfriend on the same day. He still had the car at least.

Last I heard, he was working in some hospital on the East Coast and living with his elderly parents.

Just have to say it...

there are some people that are very academic that have no practical knowledge whatsoever. You don't need an Ivy degree to be a success. I mean, look at Boone Pickens! He went to opposite-of-Ivy and now he owns the entire university he attended! How many Harvard grads or Yale grads can say that?

I received letters from Harvard, Yale, and Princeton my senior year. I was leaning towards Yale but I knew I was too immature to handle it and didn't want to waste my grandparents money.

If I was choosing between the 2, I would probably choose Yale, but if I had my choice of all of the Ivies, I would choose Columbia. Of course, they would also have to choose me, which would be unlikely!

If it's economics, I'd say Univ of Chicago.

If I had it to do over again, The Boston Architectural College (http://www.the-bac.edu/) for undergrad and then the Harvard Graduate School of Design (http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/). I would still like to move to Boston.

Harvard was the first U.S. college to require algebra for admission. Several decades later, they were the first to require geometry.

Both times, the other elites quickly followed suit.

I had this friend growing up whose dream was to attend MIT. I remember even back in 2nd grade he wanted to go to MIT. Well, he got accepted to MIT and had the money to attend but he started dating this Asian chick who he was totally crazy about. She attended OSU and she demanded that he go with her, so he gave up MIT for OSU.

Stupidest m-f'ing thing I've ever seen.
