View Full Version : Gasoline prices are about to skyrocket, aren't they?

I remember them being about $3.25 when I was on campus my final semester at OU, fall 2005. I was a poor college student that needed to commute from an off-campus apartment. I was really not liking the gas prices then.

Now that I'm employed and all, the gas prices don't sting as much, but as all may recall, the culprit of the high prices was Hurricane Katrina that semester. They sank back to $2ish in the Norman again by early late 2005/early 2006.

So, Obamafest readers, my question to you all is:

1- What is your current regular gas price per gallon (Tulsa is $3.58 this morning)

2- What do you think it will be when Tropical Storm Issac hits our gulf region (My prediction: at least $4)

3- What impact will this have on the presidential campaign (My prediction: President Obama will get hated on more, justly or not)

Tropical storm in the gulf equals higher gas prices. You can bank it. Especially when they've announced that rigs have been evacuated. I can't speak for Oklahoma, but they were already around $3.90 here in central Illinois. I'm sure they'll be north of $4.00 very soon.

For the record, I don't think President Obama should be blamed for gas prices, or the economic downturn that follows high gas prices as prices for everything else goes up with gas.

But he will be.

Yes he will be...just as Bush was pandering to big oil...turnabout is fair play... :)

3.63

Pushing 4 bucks

It isn't going to help him...he patted himself on his back for increased crude production so he can take the heat for the higher fuel prices...prices should drop (without any other bad news) to current levels by election time...another hurricane or two and added trouble in the ME and they could climb significantly...

Regular gas in Hawaii is between $4 and $4.20

I heard it would be over $5 on the Mainland this Summer and didn't see it.

It was $3.07 in parts of Virginia in July.

Wow, I can predict the future, can't I? Not that I should be bragging about forseeing something that's going to skunk the economy.

It was $3.69 this morning here in Tulsa, up from $3.57 yesterday. QT stations are kind of sporadic in their pricing, jumping a dime, then down a penny per day, but I can only see it going higher.

3.63 in Des Moines...just jumped a dime on Monday...it'll get
to $4.00 almost certainly. Shut down in the Gulf, a refinery fire
in California and a big fire in Venezuela...they say bad things come
in threes...

Still $3.69 today.

I really think that after this storm passes they have to go down again... then again, people have to buy, regardless of what the price is.

Don't think the prices will go anywhere until well after Labor Day...too
much driving demand...

Here's a link to gasbuddy.com, if you've never used it, you can put in your zip and find the lowest gas prices in your area.

It was 3.69 this morning and 3.68 on the commute home. Qt in tulsa is weird like that... raise it a dime, down it a penny...then another penny... then another penny... then raise it a dime!

People just need to change their driving habits. I think they already have in the past decade, they just need to again

Downtown and near 71st and Riverside. If you go a bit more midtown those are usually a cent or two cheaper than the downtown/71st ones.
