The Houston Chronicle carried this story today:

"Texas A&M announced today that the NCAA has denied a waiver requested on behalf of sophomore running back Brandon Williams, who transferred from Oklahoma after playing as a freshman. Williams will have 3 seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting this season.

The Aggies are stacked at running back with senior Christine Michael leading the way, followed by junior Ben Malena and freshman Trey Williams, so the loss of Brandon Williams isn't expected to hamper their offense."

I'm tired of reading about aTm and SEC thing, their new uniforms etc. but I thought this was interesting. Apparently Williams' plans to break into the Aggie lineup right off the bat, or whatever he might've been given indication of when he left OU, didn't work out to his satisfaction.

Wasn't Kameel Jackson going back to aTm? Any news on that? I haven't seen anything.

You haven't seen the last of Kameel. He landed at Louisiana-Monroe, who, unless something changes, is who OU opens up the 2013 season against.

Ah, reminds me of when Washington's Taj Bomar visited Owen Field right after that thing that happened

I can't wait to see our secondary against Kameel then. :-)

I'm sad there wasn't more of a meltdown, especially after they've been raving about him, saying he was the best back on the team during spring practice.

Didn't think this deserved it's own thread but while over there I found this...

Figured I would share in the laughter. Most of them are completely ok with going back and adding MNCs but bash the guy who points out UT would have 13 if they went by the same method. Sure glad to get rid of them...Probably the last two NCs they'll see for quite awhile.

Not a good sign for the kid from Fresno who is trying to get a waiver.

Didn't Calhoun transfer to A&M also? Not ever honorable mention for him?

I guess I don't see how any of these waiver get granted anyway.. Unless a kid's family is in dire straights, i.e. death, major illness, etc., there is very little I think the NCAA should allow. When you sign a LOI with a school, it's the school, not the coaching staff. Just my $0.02..

It's like a contract.

And a contract is a commitment.

Commitments, which you sign your name to should be honored.

Because if you can't honor something with your name on it, what then, is your name worth?

I am loving Rice band's Todd Graham show more and more with each passing gig.

Not a good sign for the kid from Fresno who is trying to get a waiver. Not so fast , my friend.Saunders left FSU as a productive player(50 catches last year) because of a coaching change and a system change to a more run based offense.Williams allegedly left OU to be closer to his 2 yo daughter. Two observations about that- 1) Hia daughter was already a year old when he came to OU. , 2) His daughter did not become an issue until Bob gave up on Brandon FUMBLES Williams and his chances of future pt decreased.

That said there is no telling what the NCAA will do.Bear in mind that the NCAA clearinghouse basically consists of a room full of drunk ,blindfolded monkeys with a dart board.

Couldn't agree more regarding the clearinghouse.

Saunders will get the "too bad, so sad" letter. Kids changing schools because of a coaching change usually end up in 1-AA because they know they won't get the waiver. As for Williams, he was ready to head home before the season began last August but the staff convinced him to stay. Maybe he never really had his heart in it. Time to move on and see if we can get at least one of our WR recruits on the field this year ;)

I don't think the Saunders issue is as cut and dry. Saunders also filed a waiver for reasons other than football. I think the NCAA is spending more time on his issue because of it.

I never thought Williams would get the waiver.
