When travelling in Islamic countries, it has always bemused me to see 'turkey bacon' or 'beef bacon' or the like on the hotel breakfast buffet lines. Why would people who don't eat bacon want something that tastes like bacon? How would they know what it was supposed to taste like?
I ponder questions like this quite a bit.

Agreed. What's the deal with vegetarians fabricating vegetable stuff to taste, "just like meat."

You never see an avowed carnivore messing with meats to taste just like vegetables.
"I've got this recipe were you take a top sirloin and turn it into something that tastes just like creamed carrots. Yum!"

Heh, Me 2nd ex tried to cook me some bacon in the microwave all wrapped up in paper towels and ****. It tasted all right But when I axed her were was the grease she said the towels soaked it all up and she threw it out
