he beat us, i give him his props. we shoulda beat Florida...with Murray and all that...some fluky plays by their very good dbs on our WRs....woulda shoulda coulda...that's why we play them.

as for his NFL career. i don't watch the NFL much. too much talk about 365/24.7....really who cares? it's an industry i don't choose to support.

and easy enough to ignore.

He's a player. I think folks need to get over the woody they have for and against him.

I think Mark Sanchez has had a case of the d00shebag (it's contagious around the USC campus) so it's kind of fun watching Teebz succeed, knowing that it's to the detriment of what hardly anyone could call anything but an overrated quarterback.

The contract extension is for $40.5 million, giving him five total years for $58.25 million, with $20.5 million fully guaranteed, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

Seriously now --- STEP can disagree with me and then I'll back off, but what, exactly, has Mark Sanchez done lately to warrant his big contract extension and to end the Teebee takeover talk?

Completion percentage in 2011: 56.7 percent
Passing yards: 3,474 yards
Touchdown/Interception ratio: 26 TD, 18 INT
Fumbles/lost: 10 (8 lost)
Rushing TD: 6

The guy bores the **** out me. Granted, he was an outstanding college football player, but he's just a side show attraction in the NFL.

I instinctively despise USC players, and Sanchez was no exception, until I read the first of the articles detailing this friendship:

Aiden 2 (http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/jets-sanchez-shaken-by-young-friend-s-death-1.2589675)

Hell, I'd like Sanchez if he had gone to texas after reading that.

OK, I feel slightly guilty for bringing up Sanchez's crappy stats now ;)

I'm with Picasso on this, I don't get the extremes on either side of Tebow. As far as an NFL QB, he's a great leader but a below average passer. I had fun watching him run the ball while he was at Denver, but after watching just one preseason game, I'm glad he's gone.

The hype isn't going away, so I just try to ignore it.

It's quite funny how we never hear about Tebow volunteering his time like this, and no, his Heisman Campaign footage in the Phillipines doesn't count.

I remember when ESPN ran the story of Sanchez and Aiden towards the end of last season, definitely a touching story.

....but I am happy as can be that the "distraction" is no longer in Denver.

Tebow is as Tebow does. The Peyton Manning saga is more interesting from a pure football perspective.

You might read this. It's not controversial enough to get in the papers or ESPN, but he puts his money where his mouth is.

I used to be a tebow hater and for that, a Sanchez hater. Now? I don't really hate on Mark. He's just not a guy that's going to win you a lot of games on his back. Of course, his line sucks and all he has to throw to is S Holmes. The backfield is a case study in chronic masturbation and Keller can't keep his **** together on the field. I think TT's issues are two fold and too many people in the press are afraid to bring one of them up.
1) He's a gym rat that spends WAY too much time trying to get huge. Cut that in half or more an spend it watching film. Name an MVP caliber qb that was ripped anywhere near Tebow's build. I truly think this gets in the way of him getting anything close to good passing fundamentals.
2) The not so nice part. He's just not that smart. There it is, he has a good football iq and nose for finding a running lane, but he can't develop into his reads. Listen to him speak. He's the minister of monosyllables. Everything he says sounds very rehearsed like he has people coaching him at all times. Trust me, I live in Jets country and all I hear is Tebow all the time. He hasn't even taken a snap in a regular season game here and he's doing station ids for espn radio.
I think he is a good guy that means what he says, but I don't think he's all that clever.

It's funny that someone would be critical of anyone going to a 3rd world country and doing charity work. Yeah, the Philippines does count.

Both good points. Having watched Tebow play much more than I ever thought I would, I can't fathom why some coach, on some NFL team hasn't brought him in and said "look kid, you're not an NFL QB, but the good news is that you're gonna be one heck of a fullback/tight end/linebacker". He was big when he got into the league, and I'm sure his gotten bigger...not the best for a QB. And to mention him not being so smart, I'm sure that doesn't help his case at QB. The greatest QBs have had to be able to make split second decisions, and a lot of them. Probably not his forte.

Tim has made his mark. Unless he gets another Team to the Playoffs it's over for him but knowing how he never gives up....unless they catch him with a hooker or buying drugs (which I highly doubt will ever happen), he's going to remain in the NFL until an agent can't get him a job, he gets hurt or he really changes the way he plays the game and that IMO could happen and then the 2nd Coming of The Tebow will occur.

When you think about it, the mere thought of Tebow taking any QB's job doesn't say much about the level of said QB's performance. But the NFL is a strange world, proven by the fact that Chase Daniels has a Super Bowl ring, a fact that still blows me away!

And we all should know that Tebow cares:

And just in case, he does have plans for life after football:

When you bring a camera with you, and send the footage to ESPN so that millions can praise you. You are no better than the Pharisees that Jesus rebuked.

He may have done some good work, but so do many others around the world who don't do these things for their own selfish gain.

Let us please stop acting like all of his intentions are wholesome and selfless.

Fairly simple. Some of us are NOT Evangelicals or the like. We prefer to keep our spirituality/religion to ourselves. We aren't all giving it up to Jesus every time we take a crap or shoving our tastes down the throats of others. To us, that is highly annoying.

Tebow is a pop culture thing. I often don't understand the draw of some pop culture, but I recognize it exists and it's not critical for me to understand it all. I do think Tebow going to the Jets along with that whole Ryan media circus is a perfect fit. I'm sure I'll get a chuckle out of it a few times during the season.
