Remember when Kevin Sumlin was an assistant coach at OU who was given the opportunity to get a head coaching gig at Houston after Art Briles left and he nearly had an undefeated season with a Heisman contender?

Well, alas, he has gone Aggie on us, but we can rest assured that someone as sound-minded as him will never go full-on Aggie. You go full-on Aggie, you end up like Dennis Franchione or Mike Sherman. Yes, the irony is not lost on me that full-on aggies fire fellow full-on aggies.

Anyways, an update on how he's doing down in Collie Station:

Aggies Insider: In SEC, will QB pick even matter? (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/college_sports/college_football/article/In-SEC-will-QB-pick-even-matter-3774250.php#ixzz234TyI1H4)

Eric Hyman preaches patience at Texas A&M (http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/08/04/4154768/eric-hyman-preaches-patience-at.html#storylink=cpy)

Anyways, these links remind that (a) Aggies are not patient, ever. (b) A boy got named Christine and it's still as funny as the first time I heard it, and (c) No, your quarterback does not matter in the SEC, unless his name is Teebz. Seriously, when has an SEC quarterback other than Teebz raised a big enough stink for you to even remember his name a few years later? The only one that comes to mind is ex-Packers backup Matt Flynn, and that's only because he was a Packer. Now that he's Pete Carroll Seahawk, screw him :P

We could not understand the location kevin sumlin

From Google shopping, a bunch of these:

An Aggie and his $109 are soon parted, hahahhahahahahhaa (http://compare.ebay.com/like/380456510106?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y)

I was surprised when he left Houston, but I understand trying to be a big time head coach. I wish him luck, after he leaves A&M of course. ;)

Not a good sign for Sumlin, His AD is not the AD that hired him and they will be playing in the SEC, those .500 finishes will not likely make the fan base happy. List Eater may even eat him!

If that happens, I hope he takes the Aggies to the cleaners like their last few coaches have. Or the bank. Or both. The bank cleaners.

I was hopeful that he'd develop into the coach that would replace (and that everyone would want to replace) Bob Stoops. Now that he's at A&M, I think the only way that would happen is Bob coaches long enough that Sumlin gets fired from A&M and redeems himself at a Baylor or Iowa St.

You see coaches turning down "better" gigs all the time now, and if he does well enough at A&M that OU would want him, A&M will probably be a good enough gig that he wouldn't automatically jump ship. A coach that didn't have A&M in the top 15 pretty consistently probably wouldn't interest us. Unfortunately, if he gets A&M to that level, OU might not be enticing enough to make a switch.

Sumlin is going to be an interesting side-story to follow this season. Looking back, you have to wonder how much of Sumlin's success was because of Briles. Clearly Briles is a good coach, and Sumlin had Keenum to help out things also. I like Sumlin, and hope he does well, but it will be interesting to follow.
