from 1938-1949?

1950-1959?

1960-1969?

1970-1979?

1980-1989?

1990-1999?

2000-2009?

Give me 1 from each side so 2 total for the years given above. I know this will be a challenge for some but I am curious to know why from some of you elders who have been around longer. Also give me your reason(s) why you selected the players you did. Much Appreciation!

Surprised no ones posted on this yet. I'm no expert but I'll try and push it along a bit. I'd just like to start with 2000-2009; on offense it would have to be Josh Heupel for me. He was the national champ and was the face of the team, runner-up would be Quentin Griffin. On defense, it would have to be Roy Williams for me. He was a stud on the defense and of course made the superman play.

And for the 90's, I'd have to say on offense De'Mond Parker. He was about the only bright apot the 90s Sooners had with Blake. And on defense, it would be Kelly Gregg. He was a big force on the D-line and played all four years here. Kinda hard to think of some from the 90s, though.

The 60's offense is easy....Steve Owens.
Defense? Maybe Granville Liggins. Can't think of anyone else.

Mine for the 80s would be Keith Jackson on offense, love watching that reverse of his against Nebraska and of course on defense, Brian Bosworth. There's plenty of good players on D in the 80s but no one really comes close to him.

For the 50's:
Clendon Thomas and Tommy McDonald...they played both ways ya know.

...Brian Bosworth. There's plenty of good players on D in the 80s but no one really comes close to him.

Tony Casillas says hello. Behind him are Ricky Bryan and Rickey Dixon. On the phone is Kevin Murphy.

I think all those guys come close to Boz. Just sayin'.

Yeah, I got ya. Just in my mind, it's hard to beat a two-time Butkus Award winner.

Word, and no doubt Boz was a stud. Just trying to reel your comment in a little about no one being close to him.

Okay, I understand. Perhaps I should have worded it better. Tony Casillas and Kevin Murphy were next on my list.

The 90's is the toughest call and you my friend nailed it.

You guys remember safety John Anderson? He was tough as nails and just made plays.

Since there are already nominations for the 70's and it's impossible to argue with them, I'll throw Jack Mildren in for the '60s.... although you could probably make a better case for him in 70-71.

Defense? No idea... I can't believe I came up with Jack Mildren. :)

Edit: Oops just noticed Steve Owens for '60s. Yeah, hard to argue with that one either.

All those lists look pretty good..

For me my best memories are in the 80's with Jamelle & Boz

90's Demond Parker & Tyrell Peters

2000's Sam Bradford/J White & Roy Williams
