In the wake of the announcement of the sanctions levied on the Penn State football scandal, there came the story of players stating they would stay with the program, followed by high profile commits reaffirming their desire to go to PSU. It seemed even the worst kind of scandal, one that brought down the legend of JoePa was not enough to really damage the school's appeal to the players.

Perhaps the dam is starting to crack.

There was a report of an inadvertant NCAA recruiting violation at USC when a player was quoted as having encouraged a Penn State RB to transfer there. Today, CNN reported two different stories, one player is transferring and the other a story from a Pittsburg newspaper of another PSU football player said to be leaving the program.

Just days away from camp is kind of late for most programs to be offering a scholarship to someone but even so, it looks like some of the current players on the PSU roster are considering taking advantage of the opportunity to transfer w/o having to sit out and lose a year of eligibilty.

If they're smart, they'll look seriously at their options. I assume this is a limited-time offer, and they won't get the chance to jump in a year if things are much worse than they're expecting.

Meh, if you're in pursuit of a football career as opposed to a academic career, college is a one-time thing. Might as well choose a good place to spend your time. If you're there for academics, this is a good opportunity to be a STUDENT-athlete. If you're there primarily for football, you cannot leave fast enough.

If it's a trickle, I would recommend the free clinic.

I think I read that the transfer penalty waiver was only through 2013.

Justin Brown is considering OU, Cincinnati and a couple of other schools. He says he has no timetable on a decision (although with camps starting, it'll need to be soon). If we get him, that would be great to have the experience.

We'll just have to wait and see.
