Cartoons here (http://www.cagle.com/news/romney-vice-president/). This one seems to illustrate the situation well:

Would someone risk losing as a veep candidate and put future presidential aspirations in danger by:

-Being aligned with polarizing Mitt Romney
-Already having a losing record on the presidential ticket (even though it's just as a veep candidate)
- Going through months of hell campaigning endlessly, traveling endless, etc. through November

And the economy sucks right now too, even if you win.

I remember Ross Perot and Bob Dole having difficulties choosing running mates. Didn't work out too well for their campaigns, either.

Is it not tempting.....who wouldn't want to be 2nd in command when there is a 80% chance of a recession, 40% chance of a financial collapse, 33% of a currency devaluation, and steady +8% UE in the next four years?

Why the hell is Romney running in the first place?

If he wants a real shot at winning, there is no way on God's green earth that Romney can pick ANYONE who was associated with the Bush Administration in any sort of capacity that required confirmation by the Senate (no Condi, no Portman, no Daniels). He can't pick someone with a past (no Jindal, no Rubio, no Walker, no Ryan, and after the Penn State revelations no Corbett). He needs to pick someone who is telegenic (no Christie, no Brewer). Gov. Kasich is out because he just got smacked hard by the voters of Ohio over union rights. He should pick someone blandly safe, who's not a buffoon -- like Governor Pawlenty or Senator Thune.

So, Mitt, please disregard everything I just wrote and pick someone who will be a complete distraction to your campaign.

if he selected Gary Johnson I'd donate $100....not sure the rest of the pubs would be happy though.

Heh, Gary Johnson (http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?subjectid=14&articleid=20120713_14_0_AnexOk1955).

Dole/Kemp and Perot/Stockdale, if you care who the running mates were. But as to you not remembering who they were: Exactly.

But really, unless the running mate becomes president himself (I don't "herself," because who are we kidding here, Hillary is NOT becoming president), they are not really that important in U.S. history.

Gary Johnson the ex-NM gov.

I know, it's just that the Gary Johnson I linked has been in the news more in the Tulsa area lately than your Gary Johnson.

For those of you that hate my links, my GJ was the ex-Skiatook superintendent that was getting kickbacks on school contracts for supplies that resulting in the Skiatook school district getting overcharged to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I wonder if your GJ will be on the Oklahoma ballot (notoriously difficult for third-party candidates to get on the ballot in this state. Poor Libertarians)
