From the Daily Caller:

It had all the trappings of a re-election rally: thousands packing a convention center, Barack Obama T-shirts, videos celebrating the health care law, and a wall-size banner with encouraging messages to the incumbent president.

“You are our knight in shining armor — Sarah C., Norman, Okla.,” read one inscription.

But this Obama love fest in Washington was not a campaign event. The nearly 9,000 gathered were teachers in town for the National Education Association’s weeklong annual convention. (end)

Because the topics are getting old around here, and this teacher from Norman has so eloquently stroked the engorged effigy of the Elected One, I thought it applicable.
This type of display would make me uncomfortable if it were directed toward Romney, or any candidate. Where is the adult, even-handed image of educators? Of course unions have always devolved into political hacks, but its a shame there is not even an attempt to hold their convention out as something to further educational professionalism.

This is one of those cases where it's good to be in a right to work state - if your union doesn't personally represent you and don't want to support it.

However, some of Obama's proposals are not well-received by teacher unions.

From a WSJ article last March:

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama laid out a broad education vision Tuesday that includes expanded merit pay for teachers and more charter schools, ideas long troubling to teachers' unions.
