In the country or the Big 12? Meh I'd just go on about life. That's pretty much par for the course the last few years. I would prolly be pretty stoked to end up in the top 4 in country.

I'd do the same thing I did back in 78,79,80 when OU finished #3,,, bitch and moan about the need for a playoff. My misery would probably be compouded since it (playoff) is so close...

Well, since I don't know the exact meaning of the question, I'll give both answers.

3rd or 4th in the country is not a National Championship, but it's a great finish for anyone. I'd be mildly happy. Obviously spoiled and wanting more.

3rd or 4th in the BIG 12? Well, that's kinda tricky. If say, TCU and WVU ended up being like top five in the country and they were #1 and #2 ahead of us, I'd be mildly disappointed, but would understand. If it happened consistently throughout the next few years, then obviously something would need to be looked into within our program to get us over the top. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting the right players to suit the way you operate. Look at Texas with VY and Colt McCoy. Look at them without VY and CM. I expect Oklahoma in a watered-down conference (let's face it... if we were great, we'd see elite defenses here) to be 3rd or 4th only on a very rare occasion such as 2009 and 2011 when injuries deplete us to the point that we CAN'T do any better.

Be happy that we won our bowl game.

I guess there's a chance we made it to the title game and lost and remained in the top 4. I'd much rather win a BCS bowl than lose in the title game even if that means we didn't win the Big 12. I don't want to be the Buffalo Bills of college football but really it's much worse. The Bills played their way into those title games.

That's why I'm a fan of a playoff. If you make it to the championship game you know you earned your way in and there's no shame in losing it. There's not the question that maybe the Big 12 just wasn't very good.

Good point... it will be interesting to see in 2014 how the playoff games are scheduled. Like, say... a big, bad SEC defense has to go up against a Vince Young in round one and a Sam Bradford in round two without a month to prepare for either of them individually. It's definitely going to change CFB for the better in the post-season. I'm with Stoops that the regular season should still matter. It's sad when you consider last year everyone outside of the SEC wasted their time playing football when about three games into the season people had their minds made up that LSU and Alabama should have played twice before they even played once. I'm not an OSU or Stanford fan, but facts arfe facts... they deserved a shot. If we got to go to New Orleans after Kansas State gave us a lubeless bendover and Urban Cryer got to go to Glendale because he whined enough about rematches shouldn't happen, then one of those two last year should have gotten a chance if not both of them. We're all used to Oklahoma getting preferential treatment. I guarandamntee we'd be screaming foul play if we had Whaley and Broyles last year and we ran the rest of the season out to 11-1 after the Tech loss. If the regular season is a playoff as all the anti-playoff folks say it is, Bama got knocked off in the middle of the season. They had their chance to beat LSU already and whiffed. End of story.

Back on the subject... OU finishing third or fourth? Nationally? Sigh... in-conference? You got some 'splaining to do, Lucy.

I'm always hoping that we will win that National Championship game, so I would be very disappointed, but grateful for the fun and wins we did get, and look foward to the next season.

I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and heard some guy say he would have WVU ranked #1 preseason, so I'd say 3 or 4 at the end would mean we beat some pretty good teams.

I know I am OT here, but...

If OU went 0-12 for the next 50 years, I would still be prouder to put it as my alma mater on my resume than I would Penn State if PSU went 12-0 for the next 50 years.

I apologize for this OT post. Carry on...

Watch them come out flat against Pittsburgh in the Fiesta Bowl and still beat them by 40

At our last home game of the season, I will personally see to it that the football makes it over the north end of the stadium all the way to the sidewalk (after our opponent kicks a FG or XP) .

Just root for us to finish 1st next year. Would love to win them all, but that's just not how things work out.
