I've never understood this song. I have great respect for Bob Dylan's song writing talents, but a tambourine in a band is kind of a throwaway, isn't it? Maybe you got a cousin who needs something to play, he can't sing, and you sure as hell don't want him playing the drums or guiitar, so you give him the damned tambourine. He's the last guy in a band I'd ask to play a song for me.


Now you may be thinking, hey, what about the Lemon Pipers' Green Tambourine?

But if you watch them, the guy hardly plays the tambourine - not until the last ten seconds of the whole damned song. It's a great song but not because of the tambourine playing.
