OKay I tried a new fish taco recipe this evening. Used halibut and a beer batter. The recipe calls for a dark mexican beer, but the grocery store didn't sell any singles of dark mexican beer and I didn't want to buy a six pack. So I bought a Fosters. The beer's carbonation works its magic and makes the batter so light and fluffy, the fish floated out of the tortillas -- like those clips of astronauts eating in outerspace.

Also, I didn't make a tomatillo salsa, but just put rooster jizz in the mexican crema mixture, for the kick.

Here's the recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/marcela-valladolid/baja-style-fish-tacos-recipe/index.html

If you watch the video of her making the recipe, maybe you'll agree with me that Marcela's taco would be tasty crema o no crema.

Tonight's netflix movie is Best Picture nominee The Descendants.

Negra Modelo would be perfect for that.

Corn tortillas as well. Good for you. So many people use flour for fish tacos. Anymore, I only use flour for chicken enchiladas, burritos, and quesadillas.

In my book, corn is for tacos and flour is for burritos.

Vet, you may be right. Some speculation this thread is really about female arousal.

I checked at the grocery store yesterday for the Negra Modelo. They only carry it in a 24-pack. Hey-Zeus H. Christ, that's a lot of tacos de pescado.

I didn't watch a movie this evening, but I did make fish tacos again -- and more.

Delalew, you'll be proud to know I picked up a six pack of the negra modelo for the beer batter. Used talapia this time and also battered some shrimp.

The shrimp came out like the puffy breaded shrimp at Chinese restaurants. Served them w/ cocktail sauce.

The fish tacos were great. Talapia was perfect.

I also went for the trifecta and cooked up some pork for carnitas tacos. You know those packages of sliced pork butt/shoulder that look like poor man's pork chops? I browned them in a skillet, added a 1/2 cup of Dr. Pepper to cover & braise until tender and let the liquid cook down to nothing. chopped up some canned jalapenos for the garnish.

puffy shrimp, fish tacos, and carnitas tacos. No movie, but I will be watching Master Chef tonight.

You keep eating like that and you'll turn messican.

Fish tacos are something I love. However, I've never eaten them at home. I did eat them the other day at a Long Dong Silvers and they were actually not too bad.

Also, if you're one of those hillbillies who goes "fish?" "tacos?" "gross" you seriously need to cop a little culture and give them a shot. Damn good.

I hear they're putting a Chuy's in Norman. Good fish tacos there, if you don't want to go to the work of making them.

Man, I haven't had halibut in forever. Hard to find down here.

Chuy's is open. Haven't eaten there yet. Too crowded.

Skip the chain. Able's in NWOKC is really excellent. Even popular with the local Messicans.
