http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/report-nfl-legend-junior-seau-dead-182120394.html

"If Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest, it is similar to the way former Chicago Bears great Dave Duerson ended his life. Duerson shot himself in the chest on February 17 -- the method used so that his brain could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a trauma-induced disease common to NFL players and others who have received repeated blows to the head."

This will I'm sure be brought up the debate about college football, posted here http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?167944-College-Football-to-be-canceled-Forever

since the thrust of their argument is about brain injuries leading to the end of football. High school, college and then pro.

Seau was not a guy I though would ever commit suicide. Strange.

RIP Junior

When Junior Seau was in college he played for USC. And, we played USC then. And, USC beat us. They beat us good.

http://www.fanbase.com/article/1988---usc-23,-oklahoma-7/6659

"Jamelle Holieway lost two fumbles inside the 20, including one on a big hit from Junior Seau, that led to 10 points while his interception was converted into a field goal."

That sentence is poorly constructed, but it demonstrates well enough that Junior helped USC beat the snot out of us.

Yeah, he was instrumental in what is arguably the most embarrassing loss in OUr history, but he was a hellofa player. I hope his family finds a way to gather peace in this loss. Never good to lose a player with such skill and passion for the game.

Tragic. He was fun to watch in college and the pros.

Wow, you almost have to think it was some sort of brain thing, or maybe untreatable chronic pain from some other sort of hurt. Mike Royko, an old Chicago columnist once wrote about being at a party with Dick Butkus, watching him get up from a chair. It was like he was 95, so broken down, and this was 20+ years ago. Butkus and Seau, both hard hitters, I'm sure they both have had an untold amount of pain in their life. It messes with you, no doubt.

Feel so bad for his family, I used to live in HI, Samoans are a TIGHT bunch. I hope they get some answers and peace, RIP Junior, you were fun to watch.

Do you own any shotguns? Better keep them locked up and give the keys to someone else.

Well after the 1st 3 died, it was thought they had some type of Final Destination thing going on with the team..The first 3 were in their 20s and the odds of someone getting struck by lightning twice...holy cow

He was camping/hunting in CO with buddies--got hit, his buddy started CPR, and that's when he was hit again. Talk about being your time to go, that is almost unbelievable.

I remember the game at USC very well, and although we lost, Holieway had the single best play action fake I had ever seen (and to this day, still haven't seen a better one). I think we scored on the play, or at least had a huge gain. Since we so rarely threw the ball, it made it even more incredible.

I've searched the internet for years trying to find video of that play, and nothing! Surely someone else remembers that play...I don't want to start thinking I made it all up in my head.

well...if was playing the lotto he should have won (I know didn't have it then..I'm guessing)...isn't the saying better chance of getting struck by lightning than winning the lotto...well...not twice.

okay, poor taste but that was my fist thought.
