It is unlike anything I've ever been around, especially in the yard. There is a rule for everything, and even walking backwards is a violation of the rules. I think I'm doing okay on everything....except switching out trains ("these cars go to this track, and those cars go to that track, and the last cars go to the other track") confuses the hell out of me, and you could have +100 cars. They say that is normal for the first few years. The workers are a neat group of guys (very few women but there are some)...there are some real characters.

They said we will watch a lot of cars get run over in our careers....not something I'm looking forward to.

GUYMON — Two trains collided near Guymon Sunday and shut down U.S. 54, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Both lanes of U.S. 54 in Texas County have been closed from Guymon to Texhoma due to the collision.
The Guymon Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the accident occurred east of Goodwell and has a potential for explosion. Other county roads near the site have also been closed and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, police wrote on the page.
The Guymon Daily Herald is reporting that one person was killed in the collision and fire crews are working to put out a fire at the site.
Other details weren't immediately available. Check back with NewsOK for more on this story when it becomes available.

Whoa, that looks serious. Haven't seen anything like that in Oklahoma for awhile. Always wondered the tracking/switching of trains worked. Something went wrong, obviously.

Never race a train to a crossing because if its a tie ... you lose!

On the news they said witnesses reported seeing the trains heading toward each other for 3 miles. As flat and open as it is out there, you know there was some good speed involved.
They said each train had 2 crew in the engines, yet reported 1 dead, 1 alive and 3 missing.

Wasn't me. I don't know what happened up there but I'm sure the NTSB will find out eventually. Like BB said I don't work for Uncle Pete; I'm with their competitor.

Glad you checked in. Had some folks around here feeling like the Apollo 13 ground control.
