Why ??because it is annoying and makes a broadcast look like a video game. it's just more needless crap on the screen.

The yellow line is the best "addition" to televised games Ever!

I don't really mind the yellow line that much, except when they have to add a graphic to it telling us that the yellow line is "brought to you by..." It's all the other watermarks, crawls, tickers, ads and crap that I can't stand. I thought it was too much back when they started leaving the little scoreboard and clock on the screen for the entire game. I wouldn't have believed it if you would have told me back then that they would keep on adding more and more stuff until the actual game being played becomes an afterthought. At this point, it really wouldn't surprise me to see something like the picture above in the next few years.

It seems to me the game has already became second fiddle to the stats, with every network now putting that giant arrow with the down and distance on it superimposed on the screen. It has almost ran me away from about the only sport I watch on tv. Once they start putting advertising there all the time ( and they will ) I'll start watching football on the radio.

I honestly wish they would bring back the 28/58 ticker as opposed to the 24/7 .............. makes me feel like im watching a game through a toothpaste tube.

I've become addicted to the yellow line and the score/clock. I find that when I'm watching a replay of a game from the 80's, it drives me nuts that I can't tell what the score and time and down/distance is at all times. On those rare times that I listen to a game on XM, it's nice that they display the current score on the radio screen.

Looks like someone needs to upgrade from their thirteen inch black and white! :playful:

I am one of those that has gone from hating all of the crap on the screen to missing it when it is not there. I love updated stats after a play and the yellow line is absolutely a necessity.

As an extra aside, I live in northwest Arizona in a town along old Route 66. One of the hotels still has "Color TV" listed as one of the many amenities on its sign attracting customers. My now 16 year old son got a chuckle out of that four or five years ago and I still note it every time I drive by. Time can stand still in some places.

Are facebook and twitter still going to rule the universe in 2015? Perhaps they will, but we all remember myspace, and classmates.com before that.

Other than that -- dead on, particularly the 45-10 in the 2nd, as previously noted!

Are facebook and twitter still going to rule the universe in 2015?

Given the half-life of any modern phenomena, probably not since they will be replaced by something most cannot even imagine today.

You know, I see school kids as youngs 13 sporting body piercings in tongues, eye brows, cheek and chin. Same kids are too young to legally get a tatoo in this state but I have seen some underagers with one. So what I wonder is, what are their children going to do to show the parents that they will not conform to the norm?
