Bob Stoops vs. Mack Brown for many years to come is awesome! It's become the Switzer vs. Osborne comparison, imo. This is really good for the rivalry.

I guess Muschamp made the right move.

If he can keep his job out there

More like... I guess Texas made the right move. Mack Brown owns 25% of UT's National Championships. Will Muschamp... lol.

I'd be surprised if he was still there in 2020. My guess is this was done to address the "When will he retire?" line of questions.

We have a winner. This was in response to a lot of negative recruiting and lies about his impending retirement. Doubt he lasts 9 more years though.

We can only hope he does.

I know he's one of only 6 coaches to win a BCS title, but next to Mark Richt, seriously, is there a coach out there that has done less with so much talent? I don't think so.

A tale of two coaches.

Fred Akers and Mack Brown both put sa*et in a position to win a national championship twice.

Akers went 0-2 in those games, Brown 1-1.

Akers was fired after going 5-6.

Brown was not fired after going 5-7.

Only a national championship will get you that kind of love.

As for Mack's contract extension (four more years taking him to 2020), doesn't mean he'll be the head football coach all that time, only that he is paid the $5.2 million plus annual raises till then.

Factoid: Mack Brown has 227 wins in 28 seasons as a head coach (8.1 wins/year).

If he maintains his average for 9 more seasons, he will reach 300.

However, he has averaged 10 wins/year at sa*et so . . .

. . . at that pace he can reach 300 career wins in a little more than 6 seasons.

Just another poor decision on the part of Texas that will greatly benefit OU.

I see Mack being ambassador to recruits in the future.

Huh? My question, as is this whole thread, is about Mac Brown.

How many outright conference titles has Mac won? Only two? I'd say he's been a good coach, but not a great one by any means. And with Texas football being what it is to young men growing up in that state, how many of those kids that sign every february with the 'horns would go there whether Mac was there or not? I just do not get the fascination that the important Texas people like DKR have with him or what it's based on. While Bob has won the same number of NC's, at least he has gotten you guys into that game a lot more often and with many more conference titles. I agree, this will greatly benefit you guys over the next decade.

Lucky for SabanBall. I was sure * would go after Nick soon, even after the first extension.

They didn't with our previous coaches Mackovic, McWilliams, Akers, etc. Brown has greatly improved the program.

dude....wrong board. This is not an SEC site.He apparently likes to post here more than his favorite team's boards.(either that, or he spends all his waking hours posting on message boards)
