I have had one for almost three years. I am thinking of getting a Big Green Egg or comparable too. Traeger has been good for what I have used it for. I replaced the original temperature control with a digital and built and fixture for the pellet hopper to allow it not run out of fuel because of the poor design. I also don't really like the clean up time on the Traeger.

How could you let it run out of fuel?? Other than making a bone headed move?

Because on the Traeger Jr there is a lip where the pellets can stack and as the auger turns it gravity feeds from the middle and will run out of pellets.

There are lots of discussions about it on Pelletheads.com. You can make a ramp which fits in the bin and then there are no flame outs due to loss of fuel. It is very common on the Traeger Jr model.

Here is link and what it looks like.

I have the lil tex and have never had any of the issues mentioned about pellets not going into the auger. The hopper is built where it angles in.
The traeger is by far the easiest smoker there is to use and makes food that would compare to any smoker made.

I bought the Lil' Tex Elite..the one on my link....I did not experience this problem pictured. But I can see where that would be a problem on the Jr.....having to stir your hopper several times.

How do you know when there is to much GBS on it or does the hopper always give you just the right amount?

Bought the egg two years ago (this summer). Best smoker I've ever had. I would highly recommend it!

Dang start up a thread on some fancy smoker and the place goes wild. There may be hope for men yet.

Now if the thing cooks with those pellet things, all bets are off.

I bet it gives you the Cancer. :D ;)
