Season 1 hasn't be shown in Asia yet. I read like 5,000 pages of the books in anticipation and damn that's cruel.

I officially invite you to Asia and get streaming video to work. Honestly, I only try for sports and I get so violent that Game of Thrones looks silly.

Streaming sucks and is another issue entirely.

Jesus Christ, so who did actually see the show and what did you think? I think Stannis is going to be amazing, great casting for a great storyline.

Was not impressed with the opener. I guess they had to set everything up. Not enough killing and only 1 tit-shot.

They killed like 20 bastards in the last minute alone. Also, at least the tit-shot didn't involve breast feeding a 12 year-old:tennis:

It's funny you should accuse me of 'fagging up' the place when I started a thread about a TV show and you responded with a biographical wiki clip of one of the show's producers and a bizarre crack about me being on welfare. Hoooo'kay then.

How about you stop posting inane, bizarre, and nonsensical crap that makes us all dumber for having to read it and then we'll talk about my posting.

Thought it was an okay premiere episode. There are so many storylines to get rolling. Like the story line they seem to be building with Stannis. Definitely intrigued by the Khaleesi and her dragons. Tyrion was great as usual.

I watched the first epi of season 2 and I am a big fan of the books and I was confused. The dialogue was too quick and the accents too strong. I need subtitles to catch it all. My South African friend, Garth, has the first season on DVD and promised to lend it to me. He hadn't read the books and said that the dwarf made the show. I didn't want to give anything away and didn't comment. But frankly I was underwhelmed by the dwarf in the first epi of season 2.

I'm a big fan of the show, and I'm trying to catch up with the books. I now see how the show is picking\combining various story lines. The show is still teetering on that line of melodrama for me. Too much palace intrigue, not enough magik and battles. Barely a dragon fart thus far...

Much more expensive and time consuming to produce lots of battle scenes and insert a lot of CGI graphics.

There actually isn't a ton of battles in the books. There's a reason the first book is called "Game of Thrones"

There actually are quite a few battles, but many of them are only mentioned in terms of outcomes or described very briefly.

already at the end of the season... and a year long wait for season 3.. i wonder how long this series will last, and if each season will sort of roughly cover each book..?..

will it end up like Rome and Deadwood - cut because its too expensive?

ouleaf
5/17/2012, 08:42 AM
This season has been rather disappointing so far. So many moving parts, but they aren't really doing anything. Only real thing that has happened is Renly getting the axe. 3 episodes left, so hopefully things pickup in a hurry.

I think HBO will give it 5 seasons, after that it will probably become a bit stale and HBO won't renew.

GDC
5/17/2012, 10:00 AM
In five seasons it will catch up with Martin's writing anyway. Then they could go big budget theater movies for the last 2-3.

This is the biggest hit they've had since the Sopranos, both critically and financially. They've already admitted that they were shortsighted in canceling Deadwood and Rome. They're already committing to future seasons by breaking the third book into two seasons, so I think unless the viewers vanish or something equally unforeseen happens, we'll have it around.

Yeah, it doesn't put episodes of Carnivale, Deadwood, or a good season 2 of Rome back in my brain, but it does help that they know it was a mistake.

They need to stop deviating from the book. It's surprising considering how season 1 was strictly by the book.
