I still have my '97 Jeep Wrangler in the garage. In-line 6, almost 165k miles (and a lot of wear and tear from off-roading). I'll take it out every once in a while, and it starts and runs with no problems. I think that may be the best car I've ever purchased.

Alas, I followed Roy's lead and bought me a F-250 today too. Now I've got a 150, 2 250's, and a 350. Plus a Fusion for momma.

Not only that, I drive Fords, Dodges and GMCs every day now. There's no comparison. Seriously. The Fords are so much better built now than either of the Obama Motors offerings. And it ain't even close.

I loved my F-250. It had a 460 Engine in it and a great 4x4 drive in it. I called it the Mule. Darn thing would get it on.

My 2012 F350 SRW Diesel is averaging over 19mpg so far. If I didn't let it idle as much as I do It would be getting over 20. I pulled a 10,000 pound high profile load into a 30 mph headwind the other day and got 17.

It's doing good enough I'm going to start replacing my gas F250's with 6.7's. My gas F250's are averaging 7.8 year round. My gas F150's (5.4) are getting 13 on a good day, 11 on a bad day.

StoopTroup

Yeah Tuf I don't disagree with you much on the MPG deal with Fords. Even with a load on them they don't usually drop much from the ****ty mileage they get and IMO they run forever without having to do much to them.

I loved every Ford I've ever owned, i just hated the mileage.

I've gone back and forth about a hundred times about buying a Mustang. I've test driven several, and loved them. The reason I'm hesitant is that I don't know how much I'll actually drive it, and it's hard for me to put a decent chunk of money into something I may not drive. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I really want a Boss, but that's a far larger chunk of money.

I loved driving the GT, but it really was just a toy for me and not an everyday driver, not that it couldn't have been I guess. Anyway, there's a good chance I'll get another this summer. If the one I had with 300HP was fun to drive I can just imagine one of the new ones with over 400! And for me the GT would be plenty, I don't need a Boss, Cobra, or whatever, though if you want one of those I'd certainy encourage you to get it! ;)

If I didn't have to deal with the winter driving conditions here, I would have puller the trigger a long time ago. I'm sure if I got it, I'd drive it a ton the first few months, but then I'm afraid it would sit in the garage...although, my 17 year old son insists he could help me out with that problem. No thanks.

I'm not loyal to one brand over another, and last year, when my son got his license, I got him a Ford F150 ('06). I had a friend selling one, and got a great deal on it. It's been great with the exception of having to replace the solenoid (twice). I figured the last thing he needed was a sports car at 16. And it's a helluva lot nicer than what I was driving at that age.

A 1967 hand me down Ford Galaxy 500 was my first car. Damn thing would overheat if you drove fast on a summer day. I had fun with it and was glad to have a car but my next car was much cooler - a gold 1969 Lincoln with interior white leather and "suicide style" doors and a 460 engine. http://www.chooseyouritem.com/classics/photos/86000/86094.1969.Lincoln.Continental.jpg

When I bought a Corolla back in the day, it was made in Fremont, Calif.

This pretending something is "Jap" or "A-mer-kan" is laughable. All these major conglomerates are intertwined at some level, whether it be from using parts made in their country or factories in another country.

I buy my vehicles based on what has the best quality ratings and reliability records. I don't give a **** if the car is Unkel Josef's CCCP Cruiser, if it's atop the reliability ratings, I'm giving it a look. If the "comrades" in Tucson or Knoxville are making it, then that's an added bonus.

"Jap cars." LOL.
