View Full Version : Dear President Obama...

Get ya some Icky!!!

"Dear President Obama,

"You don't know my telephone number, but I hope your staff is busy trying to find it. Ever since you called Sandra Fluke after Rush Limbaugh called her a slut, I figured I might be next. You explained to reporters you called her because you were thinking of your two daughters, Malia and Sasha. After all, you didn't want them to think it was okay for men to treat them that way:
"'One of the things I want them to do as they get older is engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on,' you said. 'I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way. And I don't want them attacked or called horrible names because they're being good citizens.'
"And I totally agree your kids should be able to speak their minds and engage the culture. I look forward to seeing what good things Malia and Sasha end up doing with their lives.
"But here's why I'm a little surprised my phone hasn't rung. Your $1,000,000 donor Bill Maher has said reprehensible things about my family. He's made fun of my brother because of his Down's Syndrome. He's said I was 'f—-d so hard a baby fell out.' (In a classy move, he did this while his producers put up the cover of my book, which tells about the forgiveness and redemption I've found in God after my past -- very public -- mistakes.)
"If Maher talked about Malia and Sasha that way, you'd return his dirty money and the Secret Service would probably have to restrain you. After all, I've always felt you understood my plight more than most because your mom was a teenager. That's why you stood up for me when you were campaigning against Sen. McCain and my mom -- you said vicious attacks on me should be off limits.
"Yet I wonder if the presidency has changed you. Now that you're in office, it seems you're only willing to defend certain women. You're only willing to take a moral stand when you know your liberal supporters will stand behind you.
"But…
"What if you did something radical and wildly unpopular with your base and took a stand against the denigration of all women ... even if they're just single moms? Even if they're Republicans?
"I'm not expecting your SuperPAC to return the money. You're going to need every dime to hang on to your presidency. I'm not even really expecting a call. But would it be too much to expect a little consistency? After all, you're President of all Americans, not just the liberals."

I'm trying to understand her plight on this one. She's a Republican? So because the Limbaugh story caught his eye and he felt the need to respond and used his Daughters as the reason. He should now be consistent and respond to all situations because as POTUS he agreed to do so right after he said he would defend the Constitution? So he should return the money that Bill Maher gave to someone else but shouldn't be to concerned about it as she feels he doesn't really care about her and because of that he'll need the money because his Presidency is at risk now because he chose to comment on the Limbaugh issue?

It's apparent to me that Obamacare is really needed and hopefully she will be able to find a plan that covers mental health.

It's a SuperPAC. That means it has no relationship to the candidate, right?

--or should Romney actually be responsible for all of his SuperPAC's misleading attacks on other candidates?

Boy, some of you guys intentionally miss the point entirely......or conveniently.Indeed.

Midtowner
3/20/2012, 04:17 PM
Is the point that two wrongs make a right?

The President isn't responsible for something a late night comedian says on a cable channel. Bristol Palin, unlike Fluke, is a public figure. She has already cashed in big on her young mother routine. She's fair game to be lampooned. Fluke, on the other hand, is a private person, not fair game.

StoopTroup
3/20/2012, 04:27 PM
I agree. Either way you slice this one.....the point should probably be filed down until it's as sharp as a wet noodle.

WTF?

I hope that Bristol runs for Office one day and does what her Mother couldn't. Finish the Job you were elected to do? Is that to much to ask?

When being a Civil Servant leads to Fox or even CNN buying you off to be an Opinion Person on their Network and you can't see that you are being bought off.....it's a sad day in America.

Her Mother Sarah had a much better chance to really use her position to improve things for Women in America as Governor of Alaska that an Employee of Fox Corp.

It's sad that they allowed themselves to be bought off like they were. Even though I didn't always agree with the stuff she did.....I was impressed as to how quickly she became famous. I was impressed that she stood up to the RNC when she felt they were trying to mold her into McCain's Running Mate instead of allow her to speak out about the issues she was passionate about. Was it smart of her to do it? IMO no. I think she stood a better chance of being VP had she just played along but the longer she fought them the more obvious to me it was that McCain screwed up picking her to be his Running Mate. He didn't know her and it ended up costing him the election. I'm sure he'd be crucified if he ever expressed such feelings but it is what happened IMO. I think he would have made a good POTUS but he would have faced the same problems that President Obama did and he wouldn't have been able to blame them on Bush. He would have had to taken the entire blame. President Obama is very lucky that he's been able to avoid the blame. I think we chose wisely in 2008 and it's to bad the idiots in the House are holding things up politically instead of embracing the idea that they need to help put and end to this War and the spending that is being poured into it. It's why Americans went to the Polls and elected President Obama and they were elected to create balance. Instead they built a road block. Huge mistake IMO. Negotiating fixes would have been a much better way of getting the Executive Branch back for the RNC. Now they face another 4 years of throwing up Road Blocks? It's not good for America. I expect many of them to be replaced that signed those Grover Norquist agreements.

Sandra Fluke = Bristol Palin

30 yr old law student third year law student going to talk about contraception to congress to voice concerns about her student insurance not covering contraception

17 yr old high school dropout, unwed, pregnant by a guy who did not marry her, born again "virgin", wannabe reality television personality cashing in on her politically made fame

You are so right they are identical!

Rush Limbaugh = Bill Maher

spiritual leader of the republican party, regularly speaks at CPAC, getting wild ovations, told republicans in congress to use every tactic to slow down congress and they did, every time a republican speaks out against him, they are forced to apologize, four times married, addicted to hillbilly heroin, arrested for doctor shopping getting 2,000 pills in six months goes on a three day diatribe calling a woman who just wants contraception covered in HER insurance a slut, a prostitute and demanding she she make pornography so he can watch, since he is paying for her contraception.

stand-up comedian, television host, political commentator, author, and actor cannot find where he has spoken at liberal conventions, has no influence in the democratic party, when a dem insults Maher we don't apologize.

YEP, got us there, they are equal.

Bristol is as ignorant and narcissistic as her mother.

Bristol seems quite stable. Honestly....If she felt that getting pregnant and having her Mother run for VP of the USA was hard.....those courses at Community College she took after getting her GED didn't do much good.

Did the Dancing with the Stars money pay for her new house or did Momma?

That month, Palin and her son began living in a condo she had purchased in Anchorage, where she was working at a dermatologist's office and taking business courses at a community college (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_college). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-PeopleStranger-67) In July 2010, Palin and Johnston announced that they had reunited and were again engaged, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-68) but less than three weeks later, they ended their second engagement. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-70) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-72) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-74) In August 2010 she moved out of the condo and returned to her parents' home, and the couple reached an agreement giving primary custody to Palin and visitation rights and child support responsibility to Johnston. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Palin#cite_note-76)In December 2010, Palin purchased a five-bedroom house in Maricopa, Arizona (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maricopa,_Arizona), a suburb of Phoenix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix,_Arizona), for $172,000 in cash, according to Pinal County (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinal_County,_Arizona) property records.

She's got enough problems in her life by the sound of things. I just don't get why she would get involved in all of this Limbaugh stuff. She's had quite a hard time just being Abstinence Spokesperson for Candies. You'd think she'd learn the difference between good press and bad press.

Bristol Palin now a high school graduate

For at least a few hours on Thursday, Bristol Palin was just a regular kid.

The media spotlight on Palin, 19, hasn't wavered since her surprise pregnancy was revealed amid her mom Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's stint as Sen. John McCain's running mate in the presidential elections.

But Thursday, Palin looked as lighthearted as her fellow classmates as she accepted her high school diploma at the Wasilla Sports Complex, People magazine reports.

With one exception, that is.

She could been seen mouthing, "Where's my baby?" as she tried to spot her family and infant son Tripp in the crowd.

Even her mom wasn't sure the teen would rebound and finish school after having Tripp, but the Palin daughter told People she was determined to graduate. "I knew it would be hard work, but I knew I was going to do it," she said.

And as for mom Sarah, she said: "It's been a challenging and exciting year - her senior year - and I'm just so pleased that we are where we are today."

Bristol Palin - who has cut off contact from her baby's father Levy Johnston - says she will continue her work as an activist to help educate young women and prevent teen pregnancy.

She told People she hopes to attend a local college for a two-year business degree and then possibly work in real estate.

Ummmm.....I'm not thinking there is a law against taking a break from School. I do know that there is a difference between Graduating from HS and a GED but either way I think Bristol tried to make it all OK after having her Baby and that's a lot more than many young Women are doing these days. My deal with her is that she seems to have called foul in the past and said that she got through tough times in her life via Prayer but now seems to be hell bent on getting herself involved in things that might make her money but also might not be a great thing to get involved with if you have had problems dealing with it all in the past. For me....it's seems she has some kind of learning disability by taking on this Story. She should go back to the lecture circuit but it would seem the last time she did the Student's complained about her $10,000-30,000 fee and the event was cancelled.

It would seem that working in a Dentist office isn't good enough and being able to live in a $172,000 Home in Phoenix requires you to make an income that answering the phones for a Dentist just can't support.

She is a very young and seemingly naive young woman IMO and I wish her the best but attacking a Political Shark Tank like her Mother did might not be the best way to go IMO.

I wish her luck but I don't support the new direction she is taking with her career as Abstinence Spokesperson.

So seems Miss. Fluke is a drop out then also..

Oh and just so every one knows She does want the Tax payer to foot the Bill for EVERYTHING

Sandra Fluke graduated from Cornell University in 2003 and spent five years working for Sanctuary for Families. Sandra Fluke is a Public Interest Law Scholar at Georgetown Law, due to graduate in 2012.[6] While at Georgetown University Law Center,[7][8] she authored a paper in The Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law titled "Employment Discrimination Against LGBTQ Persons",[9][non-primary source needed] where she argues that free gender reassignment is a universal human right. She is development editor of that Journal for 2011–2012.[10][6] Fluke was also active in campus protests at Georgetown University demanding the University do away with its moral objection to contraception coverage.[11]

This has got to the best stupidest ****ing post I have ever seen on this site...and that is saying something. Especially since you made a **** load of them in the past under your previous handle!

See, it's like this: Not even Obama pays attention to Maher, and he doesn't want his daughters to know about him.

The funniest putdown of Maher was when someone called him "inexplicably self-satisfied." I think Maher wants to be another HL Mencken, but he lacks the subtlety, charm, and grace. (If you read Mencken you'll see I made a real funny joke... Or maybe not.)

I really shouldn't comment in this thread because I'll readily admit I have a bias against anyone calling someone else a slut. Male, female it don't matter.

If Bristol was called a slut, I must of missed it. I regret that I didn't speak up at that time. But, it didn't help her cause that her mother was too busy preaching to the rest of us about personal responsibility to notice that her daughter might be getting a little too friendly without proper protection.

So now, Bristol has leaked to the press her letter to President Obama about how she was disrespected and feeling that the President has double standards in calling out Rush for labeling a woman willing to testify about the effectiveness of public paid for birth control as a slut.

Seriously? Have we really gone that far?

Bro, I think that you're getting the wrong end of the stick here. Let's pretend that our world is actually better than it is and Bristol had access to free birth control pills. Ya thank she'd be criticized for that?

This whole unfortunate thing is tied into the Republican right wing nutso religious thing about a soul being created when a man spurts his juice into a woman's hoohaa. Hence, a woman on birth control is a slut. A woman who shuns birth control and carries the baby is a saint (well except for that bit about not being married). Bristol probably still thinks that she is a role model or she wouldn't have leaked that letter to President Obama.

So, a young woman that gets knocked up is stupid. Go tit. How do you know she was HOPING her mother would become famous?

Her Mother was already Gov. when she got knocked up and she was getting notice or McCain wouldn't have ever known who she was. As far as I know he didn't really even know her at all when he asked her to be his running mate but she was pretty popular in the RNC at that point. So....as far as having a Famous Mother is concerned....Bristol definitely knew things were changing around the Palin House. When you go to School and your are pretty and your Momma is the Cougar/**** Gov of the Great State of Alaska and your Dad is everyone's favorite fishing buddy.....it's not to surprising that some kid named Levi jumped her bones and fertilized her ovaries with gallons of his man milk. :D

Also....I'm not calling her stupid...just a Naive young Woman.

The Fluke Gal is obviously a very well educated Woman who has also found a cause to support as a friend of her's has had a pretty difficult health problem that Doctors felt could be helped by the use of Birth Control Meds. Now it's true that Birth Control meds might be seen as a unneeded medicine for some gal that just wants to go out to bars while she's in college and see how many different Johnstons she can try out or expose her vagina to but I think from what she was trying to explain was that her friend was diagnosed with an actual medical problem that a certain Birth Control Medicine could be used to improve her health and quality of life. So....I don't really understand why Limbaugh felt the need to call her and her friends all sluts when it's pretty well understood in the medical community that Women have been able to improve their health and avoid unwanted pregnancies by using Birth Control for over 40 years. To suddenly go blathering on about any Woman using Birth Control is a slut or a prostitute is pretty much stirring up a pot of BS that really didn't need to be stirred and his doing it anyway shows just how desperate he is to keep his ratings going. Now that he's possibly lost many Sponsors and possibly stands the risk of never having a syndicated Radio Program like he has again....many folks are suddenly coming to his aid.

I'm not one of them. He's used this type of humor his entire career. IMO you live by the sword and you die by the sword. If he's as good at being a Radio Personality as he thinks he is....he will be able to make a comeback again and doesn't need Bristol or Sarah's Help in getting there.

Don Imus made his own mistakes and has figured out how to make his way back into doing what he loves....so with Rushbow.

Bristol needs to get a job and let the Father of her Child spend time with his kid, especially if she's going to go on these trips around the US making a living. I think the kid would be better off with the Father and being able to go to school with his friends and have some stability in his life rather than a Mother that depends on putting herself in the limelight of Politics in order to make a living. She should maybe let him raise her child and go back to school so she can run for office, be a Civil Servant and show her Mother how it's supposed to be done instead of follow her footsteps like Mellisa Rivers has followed her Mom in order to stay relevant. :D

Its as simple as that

There is a double standard. Maher is a comedian and is allowed to get away with it. Plus he does not have sponsors. Rush does. There is also a different standard for public citizens....like politicians then there are for private citizens. If the Republicans want to wage war on comedy they lose. No one takes Maher seriously. Millions follow the very rules Rush lays out and he is a political operative and held to a much higher standard.

Maher's donation to a PAC is beyond Obama's control. By law he cannot have a thing to do with it.

Having said all this I think both Rush and Maher were wrong. Our political system would be much better off without both those bozo's.

Agreed. I think the egos of both of these blowhards truly contribute to the numerous less-than-civil political discussions that take place across this nation.

I personally prefer political humor in the more satirical form. Will Rogers was one of the best of these. I honestly feel that Colbert also fits this type. It's not seen so much as mean spirited, yet it has subtle overtones that point out the numerous flaws found in so many political philosophies.

Great job of minimizing palins actions, typical rightwingnut. If palin were the daughter of a democrat you would be screaming how this is proof how democrats are ruining the morals of American. I still laugh when i think of the buttons at the republican convention, I SUPPORT UNWED MOTHERS, what a joke.

Women that conceive children without assuring they have a father, stable family and financial security are irresponsible. They are eroding the fabric of our country and contributing to dependence on the government. Parents should raise children, not the government.

I do not support them. The government forces me to subsidize them. People should be responsible for their actions, not dependent on others.

KENDAL UNRUH, REPUBLICAN DELEGATE: Well, McCain was not my first choice when I first had a pick of all of the potential nominees. And, as a values voter and an evangelical conservative, let's just say that there's been a history of mistrust with McCain.

I actually served on the platform committee and I came here with the very strong intention of keeping the core party principles very conservative.

And what I can tell you is, with the selection of Sarah Palin, whom values voters had actually been championing for several months now, it completely energized the base.

BASH: Now, show me what's on your hat.

UNRUH: Sure.

UNRUH: Well, certainly, there's not a vendor that is emphatically stating how I feel.

But there's been a media fight and there's been a liberal-agenda- driven fight against a 17-year-old gal who made an unfortunate decision. And she's dealing with the consequences of that decision. And all the unwed pregnancy is doing is endearing us more to Sarah Palin, because what it shows is, she not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk with her value system, and he instilled the values, the sanctity of life and human dignity into her child. And she then made the choice to continue with a pregnancy, even as embarrassing politically as it was for her.

They made great, great decisions.

This makes perfect sense and is in no way indicative of why you would ever need to avail yourself of Obamacare-provided mental health. Carry on as you were.

I saw the mental wards that our Country had prior to them losing the money they needed to remain open. They indeed became places that didn't offer the best care for many Americans but closing them led to homeless wanders on the Streets of America. After seeing both situations I can say this with facts that back me up and IMO are indefensible by you or anyone that thinks the way things are are the best way of handling folks that have mental problems. The old mental wards, as bad as they were, best the hell out of how mentally challenged are treated these days. Anyone that thinks the private sector in America will take care of it's own are completely delusional. Folks like you who have never really had to be responsible for your children and think that watching someone else write the check for Family Members that aren't able to take care of themselves aren't really involved. You are just an observer. Being an observer doesn't make you an expert. It just makes you an a$$hole with a huge pie hole.

Do you really truly think the vanishing middle class is because the government is supporting unwed mothers your really need to look at your paycheck stub. Look at how much taxes are being taken out, then look at federal spending and how much is being spent on unwed mothers, TRULY SPENT, not rightwing claim being spent, and the average middle class tax payer wouldn't see much of an increase. The real reason the middle class is vanishing is that since 1980 real income has remained almost flat for all but the top earners. Several reasons for this, the loss of good manufacturing jobs, union membership declining, emperor CEO's more focused on their own bonuses and pay than doing whats right for the company.

40-50 years ago middle class people didn't have 2 cars, cable tv, cell phones, laptops, ski trips, 3000 sf homes, etc. They did have good neighborhood schools, high graduation and literacy rates, safe streets. All that changed when the liberals came around with their handouts.

Now our cities are so full of little stupid thugs from these unwed mothers that you have to spend your cash on private schools, because all the taxes in the world can't educate these loudmouths who've never known discipline. All thanks to the liberal "Great Society".

The vanishing of the middle class is occurring because of the outsourcing of American labor and companies' new unwillingness to pay a decent wage to blue collar workers. Like me, they pay as little as they think they can reasonably get away with. In this economy, that's a lot less than it was 5 years ago.

This is what I'm talking about. I understand your point and I don't agree with how the programs that were started with the best of intentions have been taken advantage of.

Your comments come straight from rightwing talking points. In fact a majority of welfare recipients are WHITE.

“Despite prevailing stereotype, Whites, not Blacks, collect greatest share of public aid dollars.”

As for too many unwed black mothers you are right on, 72% of black babies are born to unwed mothers, but to blame welfare is just a simpletons solution to a complex problem. I have looked around, I went to jr high and high school in completely integrated schools, my jr high was in the hood, my senior year in high school, because a new high school opened up and you could go to it and be in the first graduating class I was a minority. The culture of America blacks needs to be changed but with just 14% of our budget going to “welfare” eliminating the $496B in spending won’t even cut the deficit in half. So eliminating welfare won’t raise stagnate real income rates. The GOP fights unions and minimum wage increases at every turn claiming it will stunt employment, but the highest income rates are in states with strong unions and higher minimum wages who’s employment is coming back with good jobs, not just service level jobs.

From what I can find on quick searches, the numbers indicate for welfare the overall count is roughly the same 11 million whites, 11 million blacks on welfare. But that doesn't equal the same percentages. It changes to 30% blacks vs 5% whites on welfare.

Your numbers I believe are including all forms of government assistance.

There are more of one group than the other, by quite a bit, so therefore it is far easier to have a larger number of one than the other which means the total dollars received by group will reflect that as well.

So the "everybody that doesn't support Obama is racist" thread doesn't get to 8 pages but this one does? My thread picks are about as good as my NCAA tourney picks.

I guess getting icky riled up is the prerequisite to a long thread.

No...........people saying stupid **** is how. Curly Bill........................

Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)

Medicare

Food stamps

. . . .the relief programs with the most Black clients. Yet government figures show that Whites not Blacks make up the bulk of clients on these public aid programs; a fact that dispels the notion that Blacks are scheming for a free lunch courtesy of the American taxpayer.

Like I said, I'm not going to bat for those numbers.

With regards to yours, that is the percentage of a total number receiving the assistance by demographic.

Since US Census numbers have demographics at roughly 72% white 12% black. What do those same number look like when you compare them to the core population of that demographic.

Taking the first one, Retirement Insurance which looks hugely out of whack, if you figure up the percentage of the demographic receiving the aid, it changes dramatically. Approximately 10% white receiving it vs 7% black. This all my point is with regards to your statement.

I just used your percentages and US census numbers.

Only a liberal lawyer would even attempt to construct a difference between the two.

Good thing I'm not a liberal then.

--just not a right wing moonbat as is prevalent here. You wouldn't know a liberal.. well you would.. ict. And I'm not sure what being a liberal or a lawyer has anything except that you can't think of any way to contradict me other than [very weak] immature personal attacks.

When Fluke chose to testify in an open hearing something to the effect that she has the right to keep her hand in our pockets even though we have no rights to her uterus, she became a public figure.

And when celebrities such as Maher and Jon Stewart get skewed for comments they made, they always fall back on the "Hey, I'm a comedian" routine. Pure chickens__t theatrics from spineless little twerps who think they're entitled to have it both ways. They're just as responsible for the things they say, and just as open to criticism, as that comedian Limbaugh.

How is it very misleading? The point was ubran black unwed mothers are somehow keeping down incomes. So if you take just blacks off welfare, the the percentage drop of what is spent on welfare is even less. The point is blacks on welfare are not keeping people out of the middle class.

I have no idea why you equated anything I said as relating to a person's race. You evidently seem to equate poor behavior with minorities. The term thug became popular in the US during the prohibition era, to describe the enforcers of the beer gangs. Before that it was used in English colonies. I have used it since the old TV show, The Untouchables, where Eliot Ness used it for Frank Nitti and his cronies.

At any rate you statement about welfare is very plentiful, and deliberately misleading. Since you seem intent on talking about this: A black person is about 3 times more likely than a white person of being on welfare. They are also much more likely to have children out of wedlock. These troublesome statistics took off with the expansion of social programs in the 60's. Unfortunately, the black community has suffered and been exploited the most by these liberal policies. I find it appalling, and that is another reason I dislike these programs.
