I made a recording of two guitar players on my Iphone.
Is there a way to do any editing of the file?
The lead player was softer than the rhythm player and gets overpowered.
I would like to increase the lead player's volume somewhat to create a better recording?

If it makes a difference, it is an M4A file.

TIA

Probably not a lot. It depends on the frequency at which they were playing because you brought their sound in via the same signal or input. If the sound or frequency is different, you can try certain filters that clip or cut down the particular freq. Garageband on Mac will do this.

Thanks Ron
I suspected that. The lead player was playing much higher than the rhythm player and I was looking for a mixer to increase the volume of the higher frequencies.

If it's higher, it may not be too tough. Send it to me.
I'll send you a dropbox link.

You may be able to sweeten it some but generally you're going to have make big sacrifices in one in order to get something out of the other. If you happen to have some killer parametric eq's, it would help.

FLA - The good news is that you can buy some pretty astoundingly good recording interfaces / devices for stupid cheap money if you're planning on doing this kind of stuff on a regular basis.

For an interface check out:

Or if you're using an iPad, this guy has it's own power supply...

These guys make some cool all-in-one recorders, some that can be used as an interface as well.

The mic preamps in the Lexicon products are hard to beat for the $$ and the reverb plug-in is the bomb.
