This pipeline has been in the news again the last few days. Not sure of its actual name. I've seen Transcanada, Seaway, and Wrangler. Several months ago one of the local news outlets had a detailed may online that showed the route thru Oklahoma.

As I remember, it passes just a few miles east of me. Now I can no longer find the map. Anyone got a suggestion on where to look? I've looked at The Oklahoman with no luck so far. The Tulsa World is no longer free.

This is probably what you're looking for:

It's a dated map (2009 I think) but my guess is that the route is still the same, just axe everything north of Cushing and just make from Oklahoma to Texas :)

Also, I think the Tulsa World is still free up to a point, but at same point it starts prompting you for your subscription ID.

I should have been more specific, The earlier map I saw would allow you to zoom in to see where it crossed roads, etc. You could zoom down to a square mile or less.

How they can plan something like that without going thru hundreds of people's living rooms sounds pretty complicated.

It'd be no different than planning to build an interstate....they wouldn't have to build through your living room, if you're in the way the will force you to sell your house and build right over where it used to stand.

My memory is probably just failing me about this map thing. I finally clicked enough things at the TransCanada website and found some more maps. Not great detail, but not bad. They have one for every state. Gives a pretty good idea.

I wonder what stage this is in? The articles sound like they are ready to get rolling , but I haven't heard any real controversy yet from landowners.

Is that a giant lake between Pierre SD and Bismark ND?

I don't remember seeing it.

<Though, to be fair, we were doing well over 100 mph and stoned>

It is the Missouri River...along with a few well placed dams...

Ah! it looked a tad fat for that, but I'll drop the cartography bitchin' and move along. Thanks!

My brother in law was VP of Transcanada several years ago. I know they spent a ton of time dealing with folks who didn't want the pipeline.

I believe there is a LOT of action down in Texas with regards to pissed landowners and the use of eminent domain. Of course the other usual suspects interested in seeing that the pipeline isn't constructed are party to the proceedings as well.

They've been keyed up and organized for awhile because of the TTC.
