I really think voting would come down to those two if I were to include more options, so for this poll, I'll just have those two and an "other" option. Explain "other" in comments below.

I have to go with Mikey. This can completely revitalize their program that hasn't seen greatness since playing us in the Rose Bowl, and since we were in that game, we know how long ago it was!

Urban Meyer was a huge hire for tOSU that gives them the potential to not have any off-years other than the one they just had... but Wazzu needed a coach like Mikey to come in and bring life back into that hapless, lifeless program.

I went with Urban. But I'm intersted to see how Sumlin will do at A&M. Will he be able to elevate them out of mediocrity? He has a tough road ahead with the SEC.

I went with "other", based on Sumlin. I really think he's going to do well (as much as I can't stand A&M). He's proven that he can win, and he has certainly done a good job of recruiting (on paper at least).

I'm sure both Leech and Meyer will do well, but I'm pulling for Sumlin. Of the three, Leech has the toughest job. At least Meyer and Sumlin have some tradition to work with.

Does Holgerson count? I think he's an amazing talent. Quite Leach-like in his own viking kind of way.

Question: barring firearms and just keeping things to boarding parties and storming a vessel, who wins? Pirates? Or Vikings?
Yarh!

Does Holgerson count?

Creepy Dana Holgorsen took over for WVU last season, so no, he does not count. I am talking about coaches that are taking over for the upcoming season.

I think my next poll will be on coaches with Sooner ties since there were so many this past offseason, assistant and head jorbs.

One of the toughest polls I've voted in. 4 solid choices in Urban/Dana/Mike/Kevin. Would expect Urban to compete for B1G title early on. Kevin and Dana have a hell of a schedule, I think they can do some damage. I'm not sure what Mike can do at this point. I'm sure he will have the team competitive somewhat early. PAC isn't going to be as weak as it has been IMO. He's going to be my favorite to follow. I want to see what his style will be like.

I voted for Urban...I am intrigued on how long before he quits due to heath/family reasons....

Mediocrity is their birthright.

I'm completely puzzled by people voting for Leach over Meyer. Meyer is one of the best ever.

Once again, Dana is NOT a new coach! He coached WVU for their ENTIRE season last year! Don't you remember the casino? :P

I definitely like Leach best, but Ohio State landing Meyer is huge for them.

Yeah, it will just add to their probation in a few years!

That's what I think as well.

Norm Chow because of his years of experience- national titles as an assistant at BYU and USC.

It's not a bad place to retire to... not only your home state, but your home state is Hawaii. I wouldn't have too high expectations for him though. Hawaii is never going to be uber competitive in college football.

I went Mikey.....for the sheer personality he brings with him.

You say that but if Norm starts keeping some of the top recruits on the islands then we could see a different program.

Leach is a lot of fun and has balls of steel, but I don't see him above Meyer. And for those that threw in Sumlin, that's an interesting comparison. We know Leach will win games, but a lot of people think he has a ceiling (while it's a high one, they think it exists). Sumlin has a higher chance of failure than Leach, but could also be a dynamic elite coach.

There were other WTF ones too. Charlie Weis to KU comes to mind. Let's pay off Mangino to not coach here, Turner Gill to not coach here AND Charlie Weis to coach here! All at the same time! (or have they finished paying off mangino by now...)

I agree about Sumlin. He could crash and burn in a hurry. Talk about baptism by fire.

I suspect most voters failed to consider that the poll specified for the 2012-2013 season though in fairness, the poll did not qualify what will make a coach the best over that time period. Overall W-L for the season? Improvement over the previous season?

That's the fun part of the poll... what makes a coach the best new head coach? I mean, is the coach that wins the national title the best coach in college football, or the one that takes the loser gutter program to a bowl win and a conference championship?
