The game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m., but it was in direct conflict with the Lobo men's basketball team's "Senior Day." I figured it'd get moved up or back. The parking situation would have been a nightmare had the game been left at 2 p.m. local time.

Friday's series opener will be at 6 p.m., and the finale will still be at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Weather should be okay. The local weather is predicted to be in the mid-50's all weekend, in the daytime. It will probably get a bit chilly once the sun goes down, though (this park is at 5,000' elevation).

If you're coming out, here are a few things to see and do:
- Sandia tram and/or drive up the backside of the mountains to the ski area.
- Jemez Springs drive (into the edge of the mountains, about an hour north; and it also includes some of the area seen in "Wild Hogs"). It's about 48 miles up there.
- Laguna and Acoma pueblos, about 45 minutes west of town.
- Old Town Albuquerque (which could use the business - some old shops and restaurants are closing).

As for food:
- local hangout: the Frontier Restaurant, across from UNM on old U.S. 66 (Central).
- for green chile cheeseburgers: Owl Bar, I-40 and Eubank
- for local dining: Sadies (either the N. 4th location or I-40 next to the Owl Bar); Garduno's near the old Winrock Mall (I-40 @ Louisiana Blvd.); El Pinto, far north 4th St. NW, not cheap and there's a wait, but the food is good).
- local breakfast/lunch only: Weck's (several locations, including Juan Tabo Blvd. north of I-40 and on San Mateo about 3/4 of a mile south of I-40) and Santiago's New Mexican.
- Casino dining: Route 66 Casino, just west of town. The city lights coming back towards town at night are spectacular. But so is the food at the casino, mainly in the buffet. Sandia Casino was pretty good, but I haven't been for awhile.

AVOID:
- Central Avenue, east of the UNM area, all the way to Wyoming Blvd. Major crime and prostitution!
- Downtown bar scene: too many fights and shootings lately. This also includes the area west of I-25 after dark that's south of Central Ave.
