I was in kinnygarten over in Fountainbleau, France. I remember my pop coming home from work and talking about it. He was excited, but also kinda pissed. He said "should have been an Air Force pilot not some jarhead." Heh.

I was in the second grade. We all got to go to the gym and watch on a black and white television. All I really remember is the "landing".

I wondered why they picked an astronaut with two first names.

Nichols Hills Kindergarten class. Teacher brought in a tv and we all watched while she kept saying "it will never work...it will never work".

My father was 7 and my mother was 6, so I wasn't doing much of anything at that point.

I don't know what I was doing, actually. As an 8 month old, I was probably doing to my mommy's left one what I should be doing to the left one of the young lady down at the UPS store today.
I'm relatively sure John Glenn would agree.

My knee jerk is: Are you old enough to be on the internet? I'm just a pup, too, though. I was born 6 weeks later.

Wasn't quite 2. But I remember my mother making me watch all the various Gemini launches in the 1960s.

I was a toddler in Reagan, OK so I don't remember the event, but I'm sure that no one in my family saw it because we were so poor we didn't own a TV. The 1st TV I ever remember seeing that was not in a store window in Tishomingo, was after we had moved to Moore in the mid 60's.

missed it by about 9 years, but saw it when ed harris did it in "The Right Stuff". pretty cool how they were able to get those old crafts up and running for a movie:wink:

on a side note, john glenn is a cousin of mine - something crazy like third cousin, once removed. never have met him. oh well. we should all strive to be that good of a human and american.

Isn't "a 3rd cousin, once removed" the same as a 4th cousin. ??

I was in the Air Force, stationed in the wilds of Tulsa OK.

Once removed means 'child of a 3rd cousin'. Not the same as a 4th cousin.
